I have fine hair and am looking to buy a new hair brush.   I haven't bought a new brush in about 20 years.  My current one is nylon.   My internet research thus far points toward a boar bristle brush.   What do you folks recommend?  What brand do you recommend (reasonably priced)?

What do they say about boar hair brushes to make you favour them?

I've been perfectly happy for years decades with a wooden nylon bristle brush shaped approximately like this one:

Even with my usually short hair it feels good to use as a scalp massage.

I am pretty sure what you have pictured there IS a boar bristle brush.   They are supposed to be the best material to use and evenly distribute natural hair oils.

That is probably so.
It was only to show the general shape of the brush.
I didn't care about what the bristles of that exact brush were made of.

I use Kent military style brushes - no handle.  If you look towards the bottom of the page I've linked below you will see an assortment of Kent brushes at varying prices (Canadian $)

Thanks for the suggestion. I placed an order with Kent for both a brush (pf06) and a comb. Hopefully they will work well for me.

You guys have inspired me.  I’ve never had a boar brush.  I did all the reading.  My wife like Spornette brushes.  I bought this one: Brush Link.  $24 shipped

That one looks like a good choice. It's similar to the Kent I chose but a little cheaper. This will be my first ever boar brush too.
