I've been using Personna Lab Blue USA blades for the last couple years and am looking for a replacement box. Does anyone care to compare the Lab Blue vs the Israeli blades? I've also notice the "prep" sort which costs double but appear to have the old wrapper like my old boxes of USA lab blues so I'm guessing those might be the most akin to what used to be available years ago. What personna blade do you like the best?

I use the Med Prep, but also can highly recommend the Israeli Reds and Viking's Swords.

I have tried both and find the Israeli Reds to be better. They are very smooth.

I have tried both and preferred the Personna Reds. Both are nice blades IMO but the Red's seem a little sharper and are very smooth and forgiving. The Personna Red is one of my top 3 blades but as with all blades, YMMV.

Thanks gents! I decided to order 50 reds and 10 preps just to check them out.

Both give me nicks and cuts. The US one I think is worse for me though.

What razors did you try them with?

The Personna (Med) Prep is my favorite blade. Very sharp, yet smooth for me. They also last quite long (which is good, considering their price.)

Some say that the Personna Super (Lab Blue) is just an unsterilized version of the same blade. After all I have read about the matter, I still don’t know if that is the truth or not. I like the Lab Blues a lot, too, but somehow I find the Med Preps to be just a little better.

It may be worth noting that my Med Preps come in the blue wrapper, whereas I haven’t been able to find Lab Blues in that wrapper anymore. Also, I’ve only tried the U.S. Personnas so far. (There’s also one called Personna Double Edge, which comes in a larger-than-usual plastic dispenser with five blades. I liken them to Lab Blues, but the imprint on those blades is slightly different — they only have arrows, no text.)

Let us know how you like the blades you receive.

They are the same, except the sanitization (not sterilization). They told me this a few years back in an e-mail inquiry. As well, many have done SxS objective testing and noted no difference. Nor could I. All the Personna Israeli blades are the same as the only distributor/jobber in Israel has said as such:

Quote:In South Tel-Aviv, the neighborhood is populated by wholesalers and small shops. In an unassuming shop filled with product boxed in plain cardboard, is Avi. Avi’s uncle founded the shop 65 years ago. He takes out all the blades that are made in the country, in boxes of 100. “The Personna Platinum is very popular in Los Angeles. All the stores get them from me.” Pointing at Viking Sword, he said, “These are all my brands. I have them put this label on one and raise the price, but they’re all the same factory, all the same machines.”...

However, he did not mention the Crystal blade in that article. I happen to like it better than the Israeli Red and do not think they are the same blade.

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.
