GroomingDept... Greatly appreciate your videos and sharing your experience after using the razor... It sheds a lot of insight about the razor and it's details... Thank you!

Same for Andy... Thank you for answering questions and clarifying certain points. We appreciate your involvement!

As for my initial thoughts on the razor (just what I've been exposed to via the forums)... First of all, I think it's badass! In fact, I'm excited about everything I've seen/heard thus far, with the exception of one factor. While I acknowledge that for most people this "factor" would probably be rather insignificant (as I have yet to hear anyone bring it up). I'm referring to the guarded blades not being compatible with the razor (at least if I understood that correctly from GroomingDept's previous post). For me, that's a huge deal, unfortunately! I tried SE artist club razors 2-3 years ago with my first experience being a SS Mongoose... At first, I was getting horrible shaves. I tried a couple other SE artist club razors afterwards and had the same experience. At that time, I had tried a few different blades but no improvement in performance with the SE razors that I had. Then I purchased a Colonial General and was told to try the Feather guarded blades... Bingo! A completely different experience for me 100%! The Colonial General (all versions) are now one of my personal favorite razors (and certainly my favorite SE razor). But funny enough, I went back and used the feather guarded blades in my previous SE razors and once again, it was significantly improved for me (in comparison to the other artist club blades, all of which left me with irritation). With that said, I have trust that Andy designed this razor to perform the best that it could which obviously occurs with these particular blades, for reasons I am unaware of (having limited knowledge of designing a razor myself) it does not include the Feather guarded blades and I trust Andy has a reason for that. Fortunately for most shavers interested in this razor, I don't see this as a deterrent for them. But for me, I'm more interested in the Titanium 2 razor!

YMMV, as always. But this beast doesn't bite. Smile

The prototype looks fantastic.  Happy2

Let's put it this way. I am determined to offer lower cost razors. For this to happen, it requires a combination of materials, design, and sales channel. That's vague, and deliberately so. I'm thinking about some new approaches, but it will be some time before they bear fruit. Whatever I do, it will have to be not only affordable, but very high in quality. Believe it, this is on the agenda.

I haven't a clue what a stainless version would look like. This design would definitely be too heavy in stainless.
Now that it seems like the Prototype is good to go you have any update when the initial razor will be available for sale

Sometime in May I'm hoping. They are behind some DEs in the queue.

Great shave again!

Shave Two, some observations: I have seen Andy mention that the razor doesn't bite, It really doesn't! The blade guard does an amazing job in protecting one's face. I have a couple of large areas on my neck where the hair swirls. I usually can't shave that area ATG until the 3rd/4th pass. Today I went ATG on the first pass and was able to cut hair without irritation. I have a large Adam's apple, there is a mole in the center of it, hair grows around this mole. I have never been able to shave those hairs unless I stretched and moved the skin away from the Adam's apple, but today, I just cut the hair without stretching.

It has been an artisan club SE week for me in anticipation of the Paradigm SE. I am down to 3 that I really enjoy the Asylum Rx, Cobra Classic and the Mongoose. Have tried many others but nothing has bumped this line up. It would be awesome if one of the few who are working with the prototype could compare against these or othe popular SE’s. I love all 3 of my Paradigm DE’s, but for me you can not compare a SE vs DE. I do appreciate everything Andy and Mohammad have told and shown us, but would love a comparison to another SE. I asked Phil on another forum to compare to Rx and he said two totally different razors how could that be they both use artisan club blades?

Funny, pulled out my mongoose this week which I haven’t used in over a month (since getting the paradigm razors). It still is my top performing razor although the gap between se and de is not as wide as it once was. The only other artist club SE I have used is the Above the Tie SE1 and although it’s nicer looking than the mongoose it does not perform nearly as well for me.
Would definitely love to know how the Paradigm SE compares to the mongoose.

From memory: Ikon MR-SE1 was too aggressive for me, bordering on harsh, I couldn't tame the razor! The General Aluminum and SS were too mild for me, I wasn't able to get BBS level shaves without irritation.

I borrowed an ATT SE1, I'll report on Sunday. Anyone wants to lend me a mongoose or other SE razors to compare Smile
