I could care less what Andy charges for this razor but I would only hope that he decides to make more than 50 pcs unlike all his other models and give more people an opportunity to own one that wants one!!

I’m not going to speculate on his business model other than he’s put effort, time and money into it way before we even know about it.

So yeah it bugs me, and I’m sure many others, to see all the criticism of pricing , materials, business strategy etc when we don’t know the story behind the product yet. So yes it was meant to be sarcastic and I’m glad some have noticed.

Long live entrepreneurs and creativity. If you want to patronize them or their ideas go ahead, if you don’t or you want to disagree that’s also fine but please tearing others apart ain’t cool.

In the meantime I, and others I am sure, are having a chuckle on some of these comments.

Just my 2 cents

Having read along here reminds me of the same threads that were going on with the Carbon CX and the Janus. People were ripping on both of them over pricing, materials, finish, and whatnot, before any physical product was even available. Then, when the vendors offered a pass-around, everyone jumped aboard and was like "I want it, too!", and all of a sudden it was the nicest razor everyone had ever tried.

Oh, the hypocrisy... Rolleyes

AFAIK, there were 250 units made of each, the SE and the Ti2. The SE was available for purchase on different websites for quite some time, if you wanted to.

Andy is a small time guy. If he invests In a ton of razors that don't sell he could be ruined financially and never Make another razor. This is a pre order so Im assuming he can make more. Also I have never had a problem buying one you just gotta long on when they tell you they are being released .

Thanks for the video but how about some reviews from early testers that don't work at WCS ?

Andy being a small time guy has nothing to do with razors not being made as they all are basically small time guys.... Wolfman, Timeless, Karve, Charcaol Goods, Above The Tie, and on and on so that excuse doesn't really fly here, they all have a day job away from making razors and such!!

Its interesting that you say this as it had certainly been suggested to him on multiple occasions to do a pre-order in the past for him to make more of the 17-4... His answer was always that he didn't think that was a good idea and not fair to the buyer to take their money and make them wait for the product and always refused that as an alternative. A run of say 250+ of the 17-4 razor could've been very profitable for him in a situation like this and I'm sure there would still be people begging him for more even after that number had been sold!! I'm sure the pre-order has more to do with WCS than Paradigm as I would think that they basically fronted the production costs and this is a means for them to recoup they're investment sooner than later.

I actually just wanted to find customers/work for my machine shop which was almost 2 years old at the time. At the time I was working a regular full time job and had my own shop to mess around with on weekends. So I was about to go knock on some doors (near my shop) and hand out cards etc, but decided to ask /r/smallbusiness what the best way to do this would be. One of the replies was from John Brown of LASSCo, curious if I could machine razors.

I had no idea this was a thing, but I was interested enough to look into it. Long story short, I made some razors once I was able to, and this is now my full time job.

This was one of DuFour's answers in his AMA a week or so ago.  He is a razor maker only, it seems.

Do you know whether these razor manufacturers like Paradigm, Wolfman, Razorock etc. have their own CNC machines or they are hiring a shop to build razors for themselves?

DuFour processes raw stock and poops jewelry. It's all him, and only him, with his machines.

Based on my dealing with Andy, repairing a faulty 17-4, he subs his work out to a machine shop. I mailed my 17-4 directly to his machinist. Things could be different for the Diamondback.

I'm almost certain Blackland subs all of his machine work and finishing. Shane is easily accessible to answer for himself.

Timeless is run by a family that owns a machine shop. There is more than one of them. They produce much more than just razors.

The CG guy, Brian, I believe, is ala DuFour. It's the product of one man's hands and his tools. I'm relatively certain this is the case, but I don't follow him. I could be wrong.
