I'm a little pressed for time, and I will be over the weekend as well, but I wanted to get some quick thoughts up since I had my first shave.
Fit and finish are VERY nice. I found the handle to be too short, and also a bit on the heavy side. It seems to throw off the balance a little. I will much prefer a longer handle, I'm sure.
The shave was a quick 2 pass in the morning before work (Persona Lab Blue blade). Pretty smooth both WTG and ATG. A few minor weepers, but I was going pretty fast, and it was my first use.
First impression is that it's a very nice design. More to come...

I have now had the opportunity to have a few shaves with the Salient. I tried it with a Wizamet Super Iridium blade, and a Personna Lab Blue. Both blades performed very well, but I am preferring the Personna blades in most of my razors these days, and I preferred them in the Salient as well.
For me, this was a very smooth and efficient razor. I mostly two pass shaves these days, a WTG pass, and an ATG pass. This helps me to minimize irritation. The Salient worked best for me with an angle between shallow and middle of the road. Using a steep angle (riding the bar) gave me too much blade feel, and typically resulted in a few weepers. I got a much smoother shave riding the cap, or coming close to it.
I did NOT like the handle that comes with the razor. For me, it’s much too short, and also felt a little unbalanced. Don’t get me wrong, I could get a good shave with it, but I felt it could be better. I switched over to using my 95mm Tibum titanium handle, and it made a big difference. I should note that I have large hands, and much prefer a long handle. I use this handle with my vintage Gillette heads, as those vintage handles are also much too small for me. As Frank Dragonsbeard had mentioned, I felt like the razor was much more maneuverable with this handle.
I have to say, for the smoothness of this razor, it is very efficient. I would recommend it to someone who is looking for something in this price range. I won’t be getting one for myself, but if he comes out with some better handle options, I may consider it.
The razor will be headed to Markus Marhos24 within the next day or so. I really appreciate dtownvino allowing us to give the Salient a test drive. I wish I could do that with every razor that I'm interested in, it would have saved me some $$ over the last few years.
Great shaves everyone.
