Great thread! I've been considering this razor as you don't see many razors where the baseplate extends its support to at least the cap. My preference is that it does this all the way and not indent with the lather channels but its not recessed like the DB which I think is interesting. Top cap looks slimmer too. I generally like mild razors/low-to-no blade feel razors like the Karve Overlander so I'm a bit hesitant. Decisions. Decisions!

Cutty Sharp I believe Paradigm Shaveware has a policy that would accommodate you. Are you eyeing the satin or semi-polished finish?

Razor was delivered today, and I was able to get a late afternoon shave in. I don't want to say too much without a few more shaves completed. But, this razor seems to have a lot to offer and a solid BBS was achieved. There are two aspects that I need to better assess with an additional shave or two. But I believe most of that is wrapped up in technique tuning for a couple of my most difficult areas. I also want to see how BBS duration plays out.
Looking forward to additional shaves.

Glad it got to you safely Dave and be interesting to hear your feedback my friend
Finished up my third shave with the Salient. In today’s shave I adjusted my technique for the ATG pass with an emphasis towards the safety bar and holding the razor further towards the base of the handle. I believe the combination helped maintain a more consistent angle and delivered improved results. The only area that still requires work is ATG in the mustache region. Although each shave I am getting closer to desired outcomes in that area, I did pick up two small weepers on the right hand mustache area today, as I was really going for it, experimenting with adjusted angles and approach. I feel confident that shave 4 or 5 will have that dialed in. The only other item of note is a hint of lasting feedback on the jawline and edge of the neckline. I suspect much of that is due to the fact that I did revisit both areas for a few touchups, without re-lathering.
I am planning one more shave and then a side by side with the Blackbird. For those that have shaved with both there are some obvious differences, but I still think it would be an interesting comparison. Once finished I will post a more complete and detailed writeup with my thoughts on the razor.
But as a preview:
I don’t have any history or experience with the Paradigm brand or razors. I simply wasn’t as active in this pursuit during its time of prominence. But I have to say this razor seems to fulfill the idea of smooth and effective. It is fairly rare that a single plate/gap razor designed for a broader audience is an effective shaver for my demanding beard profile. When you put together the Salient’s performance, fit and finish, and price point, I find this to be a compelling razor. I have a feeling the Salient will be finding its way into my razor collection.

rocket Dave it's hard to pass on this one once you've shaved with it at the price of entry. I"m waiting on the satin finish and I'll compare it to the polished for the heck of it and make my final decision but according to Andrew they shouldn't feel very different.
Enjoy my friend.
