Paradigm Salient Test Drive

I bought one.  Will offer it to friends in the US who want to try it.  You will need to keep it pristine, it was not donated or discounted for this purpose. 

Preference for those I borrowed razors from or BST often with.

Please no comments below about wanting to join in, I’ll ignore it.  PM me…


We have (6) so far, waiting for a few others.  When I say preference - that is just who is getting the razor first.  I have plans to get this in 10-15 other members hands.

I’m going to give you a glimpse into what Andy said…

IMO, it shaves better than 17-4 and Diamondback. Smoother than 17-4, more blade feel and efficiency than Diamondback. It particularly excels ATG.

Who isn’t curious that has shaved with a Diamondback or a 17-4?

Update - I was told the razor shipped today. I’ll report back here when it arrives with pics.

The razor arrived today in the mail. 

My first impressions are as follows:

1.) it is hefty but you will see where my hand falls on the handle that it is a nice balance point. 

2.) at 106 grams it will not be the lightest razor you use, but a lot of that weight is at base of the handle.

3.) the finish is good, it’s not a mirror polish but it’s close, I’m happy with it and at 120 dollars it’s a very nice value. 

4.) the head stack is thin, so getting under your nose will not be an issue.  

The pass around will begin at the end of next week.

They are all hand polished now, the bead blasted matte finish is probably only done at request.  

It’s not a mirror polish but it’s close.

To be fair, he knew I would pass it around (I told him exactly who I was and what I would do with it) so I might have got a preferred ship date, no discounts or promotions.

We have a good sample size here to give the razor a fair evaluation.  I would be willing to take on 2 more testers if you contact me today.

Interesting on the finish… it looks good. Mine has the satin type finish. I wonder why he switched to the polish?

Because it was poor. Plenty of pictures around that show poor QC on the finish
