I just remember people complaining about his presence and him saying too much on that thread, which I never understood.

You're not mistaken, it was on this thread indeed...and, TBH, I did not take it seriously at all...but Andy may have.
I think the exact context of the comment was that it would be preferred that Jake did all the talking
and product updates while Andy stayed on the sidelines keeping commentary to a minimum...something
like that. And that is exactly how it has come to pass.

In hindsight, we can speculate as to why that was said...but as someone a few posts above said, it's
water under the bridge...and not worth exhuming...which is how I tend to view it now as well.

The Yates Vlog has made it clear that the razors exist and I think they look very nice from a machining perspective,
even to an untrained eye like mine. In this case I would rather the finished product do the talking rather than
Andy.
I just gave my opinion. Same as anyone else. I'm no fan of Andy's past behavior. That's all. Other releases have had problems. I just hope this one doesn't.

I've also seen others promise finishes that didn't pan out. I just hope there is no overpromising and under delivering this go round.

That's why I asked about the finish process. I don't remember what was said about it. I also don't care enough to weed thru this thread to find it. I'm content with getting it in hand and evaluating for myself. No worries.

Last year, when I was talking with Janus on the phone, he still remembered your complaint about the polishing. He mentioned that some customers had been complaining because they were expecting a higher level of polishing. I explained to him that I was OK with the finish, but when he promised that the razors would come with a polish as good as Wolfman's, people automatically expected a higher level of polishing. After making that promise, he realized how difficult it was to achieve the Wolfman level of polish. I wished he had tried to get at least one razor with this finish before making such a promise. It's still my favorite razor, and I like it, but I 100% agree with every complaint about the razor.

I am neutral to Andy. I am aware of the negative stories, but he has always maintained a polite and positive relationship with his customers. I believe this release will be successful, as the razors were produced previously and the machine shop has lots of experience in razor production. Additionally, the price is low, making it possibly the cheapest US-made polished titanium razor. I am OK with delays as long as I receive a high-quality razor. Furthermore, these delays should not exceed my PayPal protection deadline, which is May 26th.

Probably the most comprehensive comparison of the two.

That was a comprehensive review....I missed it as I was nt so much into the Salient.

Summary for those who haven't read it:

Both DB and Salient about the same in efficiency...with latter having tad more blade feel.
Moreover, while the shave angle of the DB is pretty much locked in, the Salient offers
some flexibility in picking from more than one effective shaving angles, depending on the topography
of the face. Interesting...I still prefer what Ive read about the DB...and I think (hope) the use of Ti will
improve it considerably.

He spoke about it briefly when he announced the razor...appears to be some sort of process
that depends not on hand polishing which takes time and money, but some sort of chemical
process (electroplating?).

Im sure theres more to it than that but that's what I seem to remember.

Tester28  here are some additional observations from myself.

There are 2 things that set the Ti Diamondback  apart from the SS.

1.) it’s a lot less weight and more nimble.  It feels less handle heavy (better balance) and it flies around your face.

2.) Due to the balance and weight, the head doesn’t press in on your skin as much.  Some people may mistake this for less efficient, it’s not it’s more control.  It gives you a better face feel (I think Ti does this for a lot of razors, I couldn’t shave with the BB SS but I can with the Ti).

The Ti Dback is the closest thing to an RS10 aggressive plate I have shaved with (and I did a side by side with the RS10).  It’s just a little more efficient and less weight.

Now for the Salient - the reason for what Frank described as angles of attack is the geometry of the head. There is a slightly smaller gap, more blade exposure, and the straight bar design is different.  When you couple that with a lower profile head, there are more angles you can shave with due to the plane of the shave.

People always look at gap and exposure, but geometry takes a few more parameters than this into a design.  I genuinely like the Salient use it a lot.  In some ways because of the smaller head stack height and clamping at the edge, it’s almost perfect.  I even like the balance of the handle but I do substitute in a 90mm Windrose Ti handle occasionally.

I have noticed similar differences between the WR1 and WR2 heads as well.

The WR2 has a higher stacked head, thicker safety bar and offers a fairly restrictive angle of attack.
While the WR1 with its low profile and thinner safety bar offers more flexibility...that's how I remember it.

Seen that but those that didn’t get the initial one, did they get one later on don the line?
I still haven’t received one
I think I posted earlier in the thread that he said that some emails got kicked out by his email program and he had no way of putting them back so if you didn't get one I don't think we can expect one.

Don't know but it's possible that those who received a partial refund due to overpayment may have been removed from the email list. I placed my order after the price change and have been receiving emails.

I also placed my order after the price was changed/ corrected, but never received any of the emails (other than the initial email at the time, confirming the order).
So it might just be one of those weird IT glitches, randomly removing some names/ emails from the list…

I place my order pretty quickly after it was announced and I had an opportunity. I've also been on the email list for some time got the refund and also the update email so I don't know. Just 1 of those things.

The mailchimp account won’t let him use it so he had to use the Shopify system which somehow is missing about 65% of us.

I was the guinea pig and never got the email.

I suspect if you signed up for the updates on the Paradigm website you got it.  If you didn’t and placed an order (like I did) you did not get an email.   Also possible if you unsubscribed from emails from his website it scraped you off the list.

Good Saturday all!
