Had no idea he was planning to make so many at one go....thought it would be 100-150 at best.

I don’t know the exact number he’s having made, but I know he could have sold more but wants to wait until the first batch is delivered to reopen sales.

He will probably update us next week or the following week, he and Jake are communicating a lot so I assume we will find out more soon.

Makes sense...the first batch of reviews is crucial.

As it sets up the corresponding higher price point for Batch #2.

I have Wolfman polished, blackbird and H&S Efficient in Titanium. Comparing the finish and shave will be the first thing I will do( considering titanium).
Then will do the same comparison with my 2000 DB.

I believe the first production batch might actually more than the number of pre-orders. If he uses all the pre-order funds for producing as many razors as possible, it could help him manage the fund and potentially brings higher profits from this first batch.

100% correct but he is also considering other finishes for batches.

Keep in mind, this will be a little different.  Each one you mentioned was hand polished, the Ti Dback will not be hand polished but go through a unique process in order to keep the dimensions.  I know the company who did this claims it’s quite amazing on Ti, but I never saw it.

Some for returns, etc but not a lot.  There may be a few lucky people who can snag a few, but not dozens, maybe 5-10.

It’s fun to speculate but I’m confident in what I’m writing and spoke to Andy yesterday.  Also - I received an image of a new finish on a Salient he is testing.

So far, I’m getting phenomenal shaves from my satin Salient.  Much better (a bit milder) than the polished I had for the pass around.  This one is just perfect for my very sensitive skin. I want it in Ti with a different handle ;-)

But that highlights the point of hand polishing vs a mass finish. You can’t beat a controlled, mass finish to remove variables in how something will perform.

I hope there won't be a second batch. Who wanted to be in is in. There was plenty of time. Who waited, live with your remorse or wait for the secondary market. I miss the old days where the batches were made of just a few razors.

I agree with you. I have the first run of the Salient, the sandblasted finish, and the polished one, they shave different. The first is more efficient and smoother, while the polished is more rough (not necessarily more aggressive, just rough somehow).

Ti Diamondback won't shave like the 2020 Diamondback in stainless steel for sure. Think to the 17-4 and Ti2 productions. Same specifications, but definitely and completely different way of shaves, so much to be two different razors (17-4 quite aggressive and good efficiency, Ti2 mild and not effective enough in my experience).

I had a 17-4 until last year. I have a Ti2 and a 2019 diamondback currently and I can say without a doubt, the Salient in Satin is actually a better shaver than everything I have listed here.  For 99 dollars, it’s a steal!
