Paradigm releasing a new razor

I can't say I like these bead blasted finishes at all.
Even a cheapo razor like the Heritage Replica has a nice polish to it.
Hopefully the new offerings will offer some level of polish.

wow that is one ugly razor. not at all like prior Paradigm designs. that is a hard pass.

I still use and love the Paradigm 17-4. 

Smooth, low blade feel and wipes away a day or weeks heavy growth. The 17-4 steel feels great and cleans up well. Paradigm’s early releases were really great. 

Right one of the Best Ever Made Except the polish could be done better but that comes with heavy Cost on side!!

As I recall (you can search the shave boards) when Paradigm came out with the original Titanium v1 (not polished) the boards exploded. People were besides themselves with the $395 price point and now many here can justify razors even more expensive. Also once the Ti1 was released (and there were 50 or 51 made) many users complained about the aggressive shave so Andy toned it down for the later releases of the 17-4 and Ti2 Paradigms. Interesting as there are threads examining the highest gaps and most aggressive razors available and one may even consider the Ti1 as a mildly aggressive razor by today's standard. So, I guess, we will see how this new one measures up to our ongoing and evolving standards which is the beauty of the hobby. Stuff changes and is never static around here.

So what's a Paradigm Ti 1 go for these days? Love the fit and finish of the original Paradigm. I'd buy all my razors in a brushed finish if I could.

Andy can obviously make whatever razors he likes but the pictured prototype doesn't even look like a Paradigm. Change isn't always for the best.

I can answer one of your questions. I have a Paradigm Titanium 1 which was Andrew’s very first offering. He made 51 and because of the feedback back then that the razor was way to aggressive he stopped there. I to this day can’t understand that concern as I find the razor to be a great shaving razor. Similar in efficiency to a Wolfman WR1 .94 SS or a WR2 1.35 SB. 

When I was doing Shave Offs back a few years I guess there were more people watching than I knew and I still to this day get messages offering to buy mine. The most recent offer which I turned down was $1,800. I’ve never had an offer under $1,200 so that might give you an idea of the market price for a like new Ti 1 

It may even go for more if I were to list it on eBay but that’s not going to happen. 

I’m going to wait to pass judgment on his new offering as Andrew has proven to make some of the most smoothest modern razors made in my humble opinion.  I do wish it looked more like the originals with the Art Deco type designs but times change and maybe it’s the manufacturer who won’t go there or price to make a razor with those kind of details. Not sure. AJSharp has been in contact with Andrew so he may know the answer.

I don't have any Paradigm razors but that's a very different market he's going for now.

The older razors looked much more unique and premium. What happened to the signature Paradigm handle design?

When I was ordering my Paradigm 2020 Diamondback, there was a thread which touched upon this.  One of the posters had ordered one and was trying to get rid of the handle because it didn't suit him or fit his needs as a head shaver.  I am still laughing about that...of course he had a right to do whatever he wanted to.  But still why would you--the aesthetic qualities of the old handles alone were reason enough to purchase one of these beauties-- Paradigm Ti II on the left and Paradigm 2020 Diamondback on the right:

For me personally I prefer it to either Wolfman razors I mentioned in both smoothness and maneuverability. I can’t say I can compare it to a WR1 .94 in Titanium as only had the SS in a DC .
