smurfups77  Very nice and thoughtful gesture  Happy It’s also a nice brush.

Dragonsbeard CK89I think you guys summarized the Diamondback perfectly regarding its efficiency among the best moderns but with a smoothness exceeding its fine company. Those features coupled with its balance and mirror polish make it a winner for me.

Hey Andy Paradigm Shaveware any plans to release more or have the Diamondback as a regular razor available ? I think there may be more than a few out there interested.

Pretty perfect for me, the ATT handle gives the nimbleness and balance I like for my head shave, and the BIC blade on second use is as sharp as blades get. A one pass ATG with minor pick ups is what I aim for and the DB delivers that. I have a handful of DEs that can also but I don't think any are as smooth. Will have to compare with the Nodachi down the road a bit.

Anyone who has the 80mm 17-4 handle who might want to trade for the longer DB handle I could be up for that.

I tried a Bic in the Diamondback also, and really liked it.  The Diamondback is about the only razor where I didn't find the Bic to be a lot harsher than a Feather.

I normally appreciate the smoothness of the Feather over the Bic in most razors.  This razor definitely likes both of them.

I had to post a better picture of the handle my new friend made for me now that I had better light.  This picture still doesn't do it justice (it really looks cool on an iKon Standard B1 too).

Don't worry. . . .I still like the Diamondback handle on the Diamondback also.

As it will be my first Paradigm, I have faith that everything will work out just fine. Sometimes Quality Control happens but I’m thankful that someone takes the time to answer questions and hopefully deliver on Customer Service. I will wait and see.

Did my last Shave Off comparison between the Diamondback and Wolfman razors.  This time it was the WR1 SS .94 DC vs the Diamondback and not get into a long detailed review. I used two fresh Feather blades, Mike’s Natural Barbershop, a Timeless bowl and Acqua Di Parma Intense as the scent of the day. Used Thayers unscented not shown in the photo as a post shave splash. What I was most excited to try was a gift from my buddy Jason smurfups77 that he sent me just because he wanted to. I’ve always wanted a Barberpole handled brush but just hadn’t pulled the trigger on one yet so honestly I was in shock an obviously surprised when Jason sent it to me. It’s a Wild West Shaving Company handle and a Declaration B9 B 26mm knot and it is a awesome brush and I’d like to publicly thank Jason for the thoughtful and generous gift!

Son on to the Shave Off and this was an easy to read comparison. The WR1.94 DC which I only used the SB side had more blade feel than the DB especially on the 1st WTG pass on 3 days growth and even though it was smooth and a razor I’m very familiar with it wasn’t as smooth as the DB is and that is especially true on the 2nd ATG pass where the DB starts to exhibit its ghost blade feel where’s the WR1 maintains its blade feel which is more consistent throughout the entire Shave but it certainly doesn’t bother me at all. At the end of the 2 passes the 94 proved to be the more efficient and effective at taking down my 3 days growth and gave me a longer lasting BBS shave. So in conclusion I’d say the DB is a touch more efficient than the WR2 TI  1.25. Dead even with the WR2 TI 1.35 SB and not quite as efficient than WR1.94 SB but smoother than all 3 Wolfie’s I used in this Shave Off comparison and feel no need to match the DB with my WR2 Ti DC 1.45/1.55 SB as far as testing efficiency goes. I think that Paradigm hit one out of the ballpark with this Diamondback and it would definitely be the one I’d be grabbing if I was a daily shaver.

Nice Job @Paradigm Andrew!

Hey buddy you are very welcome. That was a great shave off. The more I read about this razor the more I think I NEED one. Hopefully there will be more available soon.
Happy shaves
Jason

OMG (say it like Chandler from Friends with it long and drawn out) ... that was my experience shimming the 2020 Diamondback.

Now those that know me know I like to try to shim razors even a highly polished or efficient ones because "why not". As previously opined this 0.8 mm polished Diamondback is exceptionally smooth and punches up in regards to efficiency (it's not all in the gap). I figure it is smooth or smoother than a Timeless, 17-4 or RS10 and as efficient as a Wolfman 135 which you may or may not agree with but I suspect I am in the right range. So I used 3 DE shims (cause it can get tricky to use more) which effectively increased the gap by (approximately) 0.3 mm to the Diamondback.

Well the already smooth Diamondback shimmed 1.1 was still as smooth on the first WTG pass and lost only minimal smoothness on my second ATG pass. It was also somewhat louder and more audible on this second pass. There was definitively more (although minimal) blade feel on the second pass. As expected the efficiency of this shimmed Diamondback was enhanced and better than a Wolfman 145 (which can be slightly harsh at higher gaps - try a 0.3 mm increase and you'll see). The shimmed Diamondback was as efficient as any adjustable near its max - think a 3/4 open Tiaga or Sailor or a Gibbs 5 and Futur 5 (from what I recall). Now the only "cheat" I can be faulted on is using the ETHOS soap which makes any shave more comfortable with its hydration but it is now my top tier soap/AS so I'm going to use it and benefit from it.

If you want to shim any razor you might as well do it on a known smooth one like this 2020 polished Diamondback - you won't be disappointed.

I will try it, very looking forward to.
Could be nice if Andy can produce two more base plates (Maybe 1.0mm and 1.2mm gap).
