I recently purchased a few knots in various sizes from Oumo. Let me say, I’ve had every single name brush, at least twice in the last 5-6 years. A few of the best were Paladin 1st batch. Declaration 1&2 batch, and a few M&F/Rooney heritage knots. That said, these knew Oumo knots are absolutely insane. So much so, I decided to get to get a little crazy tonight.

That's a pretty bold move.

Oumo knots must be nearing nirvana.

Very nice. I have been thinking about doing this for a while if I can find a used Paladin for a good enough price, except I’d like to send it to Declaration for a knot when a prime batch of hair is once again available. That knot came out really cleanly. Did it fall out on its own or did you steam it out? The Oumo SHD knots are great and are a terrific value.  I like it.

How deep is the socket on that handle? Socket diameter?

People keep saying “value” and I’m not sure why. I’m not sure on the step by step manufacturing process of badger knots. All I know is what I like, and don’t like. These knots are 90-95% as good as the 1st batch paladins & declaration as far as feel (gel tips, softness, scritch). It’s crunchy when dry, but in a slightly different way. I think what makes these as good as a whole, is it’s density. These are jam packed and tightly tied knots. The others I always wanted a little bit more. But, that is very subjective. People prefer a certain loft, density, flow etc. Either way, to far one way or another will make a bad knot.

IMO, the value is the performance/experience for the price of the knot. You can get a great SHD directly from Oumo for around $35 and a nice artisan-made handle for another $50 or so and have a top notch brush for around/under $100. For people who like a high density knot, these SHDs are much more affordable than buying a DG, Simpson, etc. brush.

Where do you purchase the Oumo knots?

Looks nice but why did a paladin have to die for this? lol There are other handles that could have been used.
