Within my collection, the Declaration B6 and Paladin CLSD5/CLSE5 knots stand head and shoulders above the rest in terms of gel-liness. If you can accept a lesser degree of gel, I have found that the B2/B5, Turn-N-Shave TIP and the Maggards SHD knots deliver a similar experience. As always, YMMV.

B6 had me selling off the rest of my brushes it’s that good. Literally the knot I’ve been waiting to come along for some time. Encouraging to hear the Maggard SHD can deliver. Also have heard positive reviews regarding gel with the Elite Manchurian White but have no experience with them.

Unfortunately, the Elite knots I got did not gel, and I got two: a 26mm Fan and a 30mm bulb. So I had them replaced. It seems like other folks were luckier than me.

Well I ended up getting the brush at the drop so I guess we'll see. I'll post when I get it with results. And possibly in the bst lol. My first tigris though, kind of excited.

I do have a J5 knotted brush. Although relatively new, it has already begun to display some "gel like" qualities. The brush may take on gel like qualities which for some may be an indicator of a great knot, but it certainly doesn't diminish how great all the other qualities you look for in a knot are such as backbone, flow through, resiliency, soft tips, etc. The J5 knot I have may or may not change over time, but it's a great knot as it is today and one that I enjoy having. I have a SE5 and an LD4 that gel like crazy and they are fun to use, but truth is, I don't want "gel" everyday either. I haven't used one bad or poor quality knot from Paladin; the J5 is no exception.

I have three brushes with the same Paladin knot code. Two did not gel at all and one I would swear felt like it had KY jelly on it. Characteristics can vary greatly within the same batch and knot codes.

there are some CLSD5, J5 and H5s on the Paladin site now.

the CLND6 knots from the Bullgoose run today were described as such:

Quote:The knots are 26mm in diameter with a loft of approximately 52.5mm and, the knots have that nice gel tip feature that so many people are wild about.
