I received an alert from PAA on their new razor called the DOC Ascension Twist Adjustable which just happened to drop today and is available for sale on their online store. Basically an all aluminum designed (7075) CNC machined razor with a deep bottom and top plate curvature that, as explained by Mr. Smythe has a degree of adjustability to customize your shave and feel. Knowing myself, my curiosity was piqued and I ordered one. I am not a fan of light weight razors but, I figured for the $$$ might as well give it a shot and see how it goes. I own the original PAA DOC EVO in Stainless and that is a superstar in my den. Maybe it’s light weight sibling can actually shave close to it’s older and heavier brother or at least give a respectable shave. The adjustable feature is what actually drew me in so, we shall see how it stacks up in a few short days....

There is already a video in the “Video” section of this forum. My apologies for not searching before posting.......

I look forward to your reviews, Gus. As you know, I'm also a champion of the Evolution in stainless. I also have the Evolution in aluminum, which is just a notch below the stainless in my pecking order. Your trusty hand will let us all know how this new kid ranks in the neighborhood...

I own both also and am curious to hear as well, but I have no interest in buying this one. Curious as to how it actually functions though.

I received the announcement also and think I will pass on this one. This "adjustable" 1/4 turn razors have been around for a while ever since Gillette said we could do it with their three piece razors. I have been doing it with some of my razors using an O ring between the base plate and handle. It does work to an extent, but the adjustment will be more like going form a 2 to a 2.5 on a REX safely and not from a 2 to a 6. Still, I would like to hear from folks that actually received one and shaved with it.

Agreed. It's mostly out of curiosity than anything else to be honest. Just to give it a shot. Should be here tomorrow and I'll try it on the weekend....

Well, looks like it was delivered early by a day. Maybe when I get home I'll put in a fresh blade and give it a spin. Pics soon.....

Not a bad looking razor, I just made an order from them for the injector, so I’ll wait a bit before ordering this one

works by loosening / tightening the handle onto the cap. The tighter you turn it the greater the curvature of the blade, and, looser gives less curvature so it changes the angle of the blade. I'm guessing you could accomplish this same effect with any of 3 piece DE razor that has a significant curve on the base plate/top cap. There's no way of ensuring consistency though.
