As you can see, there is almost no difference. The only difference I could feel was that the regular Lotus has a slightly higher backbone, when both are set at 50mm.
There was not much hair coming out of the knot upon first use, about the same as any other knot, 5-10 hairs.

Dang Navitimer those look super gelly. Are they about the same as far as that goes? Do they feel overly slimey? I have a handle that needs a knot and I was thinking about one of these. I like some gel, but these look a bit extreme. Thanks for any insight.

They are super gelly but they don't feel very slimey to me. They actually have quite a bit of scrub to them which is a weird combination of properties.
Both knots feel almost identical with the mentioned difference in backbone.
The "handtied" knot has more black hairs, but that might be due to batch variation.

A handful of white tips have broken off, but it didn't continue past the initial cleanup and lathers. It looks strikingly similar to DG B12 and Oumo has hinted that an initial test batch was sent overseas via another trading company so it might just be the same processing method.

They are ideal for very soft soaps like Milksteak as they pick it up nicely but struggle with harder soaps such as Stirling.

In my personal opinion right now I still prefer the non-Lotus Manchuria knots by Oumo as they are the ideal balance of backbone and soft tips for me. If you desire more gel they can be bleached easily by yourself and you can get the perfect level of gel that you desire.

In conclusion, the Lotus tips knots are a nice addition, but I don't see them taking over very soon.

Not sure what is the new Oumo Tyrant T1 knot.

For sure, the new Titanium handle series is stunning!!!

I recently acquired the oumo Tyrant knot and that thing is packed with hair.  I wonder if it's as dense as a black eagle

I bought one of the Oumo “rainbow” titanium handled brushes.
$191 and I don’t think that any part of that handle is titanium.
It scratched too easily and it weighed a ton.  At least as much as stainless and more than aluminum.
It really was beautiful, but I thought it would become scratched way to easily.
I sent it back and got a full refund.
Oh well, nothing ventured…

I think titanium is heavy metal for a shave brush. It has almost double density of aluminum. 
Stork hollowed their titanium handles to reduce weight, may be Oumo should do.

Not sure I would want a big metal shaving brush anyway, although the aluminium synthetic brushes that Blackland offers are really good. Usually I prefer the feel of acrylic plastic.

Anyway, I wanted to say I like the Oumo “Silk” knot very much (was formerly called High Mountain White 3-Band). The tips are beautifully soft - almost synthetic fibre soft - and although it is marketed as a gelled knot it seems hardly gelled at all and it has absolutely no crustiness when it dries. Being 3-band hair it has less backbone, but if you like really soft tips then this knot is remarkable.



I just got one of their new “Tyrant” knots but I haven’t shaved with it yet. From shampooing the knot in my palm, though, I found this ‘Exceed’ handle shape to be outstandingly comfortable.

The smaller rainbow handle (the "Compass") weighs in at 188g / 6.63 oz, which is in line with the weight for titanium for a similarly sized handle/brush, for instance the Carnavis & Richardson B6 handle. 

Stainless steel would be almost double the weight. But titanium isn't that light per se, it's just that titanium razors don't use as much material in comparison to a brush handle.

The inside is hollow, but filled with clear resin to a bore depth of 21mm on mine. 

I have no doubt that it's titanium, as no other material would be able to match that weight at these dimensions.

The Exceed handle is very very comfy! I love mine to bits! most used brush in the den just because of the handle.. The knot itself is a 26mm Lotus manchurian fan
