I have to amend this a bit.

I used it this morning and got quite a good shave, no irritation. Feather blade, 1-1/2 days growth. I think the key bit was the use of a very small amount of Pacific Shaving cream & lots of water, no brush, just trying to get the skin super slick. Audio & shave quality were much better than before. I'll have to try using it similarly with a GEM blade.

2nd shave with the Feather was also very good, 3rd slightly rougher, 4th lousy; I switched razors about 30 seconds in. PS cream worked better than Nivea, thickness definitely seems to be a disadvantage. This thing would probably work well with Cremo.

Tried it again with a GEM just now. I had to work a bit harder for a slightly less close shave, but not bad; no razor burn despite some repeated strokes. I'll see how long it lasts.

BTW, the methods I've seen on YouTube for de-spining GEMs (pulling the spine off with pliers & vise or two pairs of pliers) are rubbish. Easier & safer to hold it down by the cardboard wrapper near the edge of a counter, insert the tip of a pocket knife under the edge of the spine, & twist a bit. Popped right off.

I find the latest version of the Core razor works as good as any of the other version of the ONEblade razor. Easy to use and very quick. Much like the very best cartridge razor I have ever used. The price of the blades does not scare me as I use De razors in-between just for the fun of it and the Oneblade when in a hurry as it is, almost for me,----foolproof, much like the best cartridge razors, only without the ingrown hair hassles and the reapers and the cuts! IT also does a nice job of cleaning up after a lousy DE shave without all the Irritation! And, I do have a Genesis and hybrid version. THE $20 core is a bargin IMHO! And, I have tried the de-spined Gem blades and they work fine although again IMHO== for anyone looking for a cheaper blade to use with the core or any of the other One blade version razors. Locking in the blade does not seem to be a problem for me? Go figure! I just advise anyone that with the Gem blade--don't push too hard! Protect the blade tabs! Buy the Feather blades and leave it at that. Still cheaper than almost all of the other cartridge shavers! That's my Opinion for WIW!!

I got one but find the feather blade to be really tuggy after the first shave. I’ve used despined Gem blades but don’t seem to get as close a shave.

Does the OneBlade core take a GEM blade without any modification like the OB B1 did?

I just bought the OneBlade core on the $20 offer a couple of weeks ago. I have to admit--it works really well for me. I thought I'd be clever and made a canvas strop to fit an Auto Strop and thought I'd be able to strop the FHS10 blade to extend the life. I'm not sure why, but that killed the blade. I had to toss the blade right away the next morning because it pulled so much. I did read where someone said they flip the blade every day, so I've done that this week and shave 3 this morning was still really comfortable--I'm hoping the blade will last a week doing this.

How did that end up working out for you? I have read a lot of reviews saying the blades only go 2 good shaves, 1 mediocre... Or something to that effect. They're kinda pricey compared to gem or DE, right? Hopefully you found an answer that can give them the life their price point deserves.

Please, let us know? Thanks.

I've found that with a GEM blade this makes an excellent touch-up razor for getting rid of stubborn stubble patches on my neck. After rinsing & spraying on some Thayer's I do some detailed work with the OneBlade & it clears out the stubble with no irritation. Been using the same blade for this for a month or two so far...

That's about all I use it for these days. As a mild, efficient shaver for those days when I need to give my skin a rest from the DB89, the Dorco is just plain better. Too bad they discontinued it.

I hunted a while to find an Auto Strop set that came with the leather strop thinking of doing the same with the FHS10 blade for the Core. Unfortunately the results were the same as yours. I know that the stainless steel blades do not take to stropping well, but was not willing to buy a pack of FAS10 just to see if the results were better. The odd thing was that when I loaded the same wrecked blade in the Auto Strop, I have been getting great shaves from it, even after stropping them once a week.
Blade flipping is something that I do with my notched Gem blades in my OB razors, and it does help with the shaves. I am supposing it will also work with the FHS10 blades.
