clint64 Did you release the razor handle when you set it to 6.5? It's not as if you tightened the handle at setting #1 and then adjusted the dial from #1 to #6.

If I understand the question....Why not ? It's exactly how mine works and that's how they show it in their tutorial. Tighten it down and then adjust the dial to your desired level. Even states it on their website and shows it in the video:

"Ensure the razor is fully secured by tightening the handle
Ensure the bottom crown of the razor is properly secured, you can then adjust the middle crown of the razor to whatever setting meets your preference!"

In the video, he tightened the dial when the setting was at #6, then dropped the setting. When moving from a higher setting to a lower one, you can do so easily. You can even slightly tighten the handle more at setting #1 if you prefer. However, if you tighten it fully at setting #1, the top cap is constrained by the handle, making it difficult to move the top cap and shim plate upward when increasing the setting. This can lead to misalignment.

For every adjustable razor with dial control (except the Rocnel Sailor, which only uses handle control), I always release the handle first, then set the dial, and finally tighten the handle.

But that's not what they describe in the FAQ which I quoted in Bold above. They say to secure it and then you can adjust to whatever setting you wish. That's how mine works. If more care is needed I would think they would specify that.

I will try mine on Monday, as it's still with the office mail service. I wonder if it will make a difference.

Following this thread regarding the alignment issue, i just went in and tightened my Oliblade all the way down while at setting .5.  I then rotated the setting knob all the way to 6 and then back down to .5.  I performed this maneuver 5 times and checked both sides of the razor.  To my untrained eye, i saw NO alignment issues at any setting during any of the tightening performances.  I will use the razor for the first time tomorrow so actual use will tell the tale.

I will share my experience with this razor. I ordered the strait guard version the 14th and it arrived last Monday. I was highly impressed with the packaging and presentation. I had high expectations being this is a stainless steel razor Made in the USA. I washed it with dawn and hot water like I do with all new and vintage razors. I also did a quick inspection of everything and quick check of the alignment at setting .5 and 6.5 with dummy blade. Everything looked good and at those 2 settings. I made a quick first impressions video . I had already shaved that morning so I waited to Tuesday to do a one days growth shave. I had planned on making this a shave review video. For the shave I used a new feather blade and Ogallala bay rum & vanilla. I started off shaving with the grain at setting .5  .I did 2 adjustment's to the 3.5 setting in-between the top of the side burn and my jawline. This setting seemed good. I continued shaving did under my chin and neck switched to my upper lip did both side started working down the other side of my face, I felt it bit me right above the jaw line. I stopped the shave immediately. I noticed I had 2 weepers on the upper lip as well. Got my self sorted with a styptic pencil and started inspecting the razor. Here is what the alignment looked like a 3.5
[Image: iBPTVet.jpeg][Image: 9tob34N.jpeg]Setting 6
I was highly ticked off, I immediately emailed them. There customer service was excellent. They got back to me quick offered me a replacement, I declined and opted for a refund. The return slip email was quick I boxed it back up and dropped it off at the post office with in minutes . I did not take the razor apart and refuse to do at the price point at $120. I will acknowledge that it was my mistake not to check the in-between setting for proper alignment and will thoroughly in the future will all new razors. also I had weird uneven irritation under my chin and neck that lasted a couple days. I took down my first impressions video, as I too would have felt responsible if one of my viewers or subs ended up getting a lemon like I did.

I have tried and tried and can't get my Oli razor to mis-align. I know what needs to happen for the misalignment to take place, but I can't "force" my razor to replicate the issue. There was a big controversy on YT about another adjustable razor that was susceptible to this phenomenon, and I can make the Pearl Flexi go out of alignment if I handle the bottom plate, just so. I mean, I've got to almost will it to happen. But I can't pull that off with the Oli. Try as I might. Trust me, I spent a fortune on this Oli. And I needed it like I needed a hole drilled in the side of my head. So the temptation to return it and call it a day is there. But I don't have a problem with it. Happy as a pig in a poop pile. This razor is a welcome addition to my shave den and I've even found an inkwell stand that halfway fits it. Shaves just fine, lots more experimenting to do. But even with it's flaws (no clicker on the adjustment knob), I'm keeping this hog.
