Single Edge Saturday!

Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather
Pre: Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave
Razor: Gem 1912 Damaskeene
Blade: Gem SS PTFE (3rd Use)
Brush: Yaqi Green Obsidian Two Band Badger
Lather: Cyril R. Salter Cream (Indian Sandalwood), Face Lathered
Post: Generic Reformed Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, Nivea Deep After Shave, Nivea Sensitive Balm

I've been on a kind of unplanned shaving sabbatical, with many things going on over the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope everyone has enjoyed their Thanksgiving!

It's been a while since I've not shaved for three days, so I had four days growth. It was the first use of the Cyril R. Salter Indian Sandalwood shaving cream. Man does this stuff smell great! I have two Proraso creams in tubes, but this is my first cream in a tub. I debated for a while how I was going to load the brush and just decided to keep it simple and load the brush straight from the tub. I was a bit conservative with the load and for the second pass. It lathered well and did I say that it smells great! The shave went great and I even snuck in ATG on the cheeks on the second pass. Having had a good break to rest, my face felt great and I'm rearing to go again tomorrow!

Hey, Dave! Yep, it felt weird for sure. It is something to just mow through my four day old whiskers like nothing with a GEM blade. I had the Dammy scheduled, but was thinking of using the MMOC...didn't need it.

While picking up some groceries on Black Friday, I happened to be driving by a local antique store and scored my first Shick Injector Razor, Type J2 I believe. Since the photo, I've given it a soak/scrub in hot water/dawn detergent. It cleaned up well. It came with a twinjector blade loaded. I'm debating whether or not to push the old blade out and clean again/barbicide head soak...or just push a new blade in and then take those steps.

Up to you. Shouldn't hurt anything to be bladeless just for cleaning. Happy2

It is an amazing feeling for sure! My petty little double-digit consecutive daily shave streaks pale in comparison to a streak such as yours...respect the streak! Cool

Does it have a Hydro-Magic lever?
Even if not, I would not hesitate to ditch the old blade before sanitizing.

Unfortunately, no Hydro-Magic lever. I slid a new blade in last night.  This morning I'll give the razor another soak/scrub with detergent and a 10 minute soak for the head only in barbicide. I was wondering if this additional cleaning steps would have an effect on the new blade. I'm planning to shave with it this afternoon and if there are any issues with the blade I'll pop in a new one and save this as a dummy blade if I need again in the future.
