Occams Status?

I did actually think about that, good point EFDan. Stirling has the Baker Street scent, but the soap base is now Stirling’s own. So if you were a fan of Stroppe Shop’s soap itself, it won’t be the same thing, but the scent of course is preserved, which is a whole lot better than nothing.

In Occam’s case, it seems to be the shaving cream itself that is the real deal, not necessarily the scent (though I’m sure the scents are fine, too). Maggard Razors still has a few Occams jars in stock, so I guess it’s one of those “now or never” situations for anyone who is interested…

My only frustration with 'artisan' soaps is the very uncertain future of a small operation. I should also mention no few big names have suddenly been discontinued or reformulated AKA FUBAR. Once again the standard disclaimer: If you fall in love with a soap stock up NOW.

Sorry to hear this. It was on my list, too, as I had read very good things about the products. But it can’t be an easy business to be in, whether full-time or part-time. Would be great if the people who leave the business could somehow impart to someone else what they have learned, especially in the cases where the product truly was something special.

That happened to me when Prairie Creations closed. Best shaving soap ever. It is no big deal, though, and no reason for me to avoid small cottage industry soapmakers. If one goes out of business, there are hundreds of other great soaps to take their place. All hoarding does is to waste space and merely delay the inevitable.
