The O.R.E.N razor is a really good performer. I also have the original Occam's razor and it also is a very good razor as well. But, I prefer the 2nd version as it feels easier maneuvering around the neck and tighter areas. I have never been bit by either version and frankly I find that you would have to intentionally be reckless to do so as the floating blade is designed to move within the contours of ones face to prevent or limit nics and cuts. The 2 dot with either a Schick Proline, Feather Pro or Super perform marvelously in both.

They're the best kept secret in the SE razor world...

bumping an old thread, I know...

I finally picked up 1 of these off of the bst recently since my wife was wanting a razor that had a wider cutting platform than the DE blades offered. I personally have always liked the look of this razor but never got good shaves from the ac style blades so I just avoided this razor entirely...

this razor came with the 3 dot head..last night I loaded up a feather pro guard blade into the razor to give it a whirl...I figured I'd start there since its been a while since I used any ac style razor and I didn't want to start my wife off with something too aggressive for when she uses it....

firstly, loading the blade was an absolute PITA! I easily kept pushing the blade past the little nubs that are supposed to hold the blade in place and then out the front it would go! I actually had to find and watch a few youtube videos to see WTF I was doing wrong...once I finally got the blade into place, I was a little nervous about the blade moving or popping out of place during the shave..I also noticed that the blade had a smile/frown in it, likely because it wasn't being held into place in the middle to keep it even.

now onto the shave....I like the weight of the razor and the overall look, but holding it was a little weird for me. I assume this will probably get better over time since I'm used to holding a traditional handle. the shave itself was very mild to me, likely because of the blade. I also heard very little feedback. This could also be from the blade as well. I had about 3 weeks of growth and the razor was able to rinse clean very easily..

next time I try the razor, I'd probably step up the razor with a more aggressive blade..I guess we'll see how it goes!

My wife did not like the pro guard blade in the oren for her shave last night as it was too mild. I guess I'll step it way up to the feather pro supers and see how it goes.

How has this razor been with the Feather Professional Supers? I have an O.R.E.N on its way to me in the mail right now but don't have any blades for it yet. I'm trying to do some research before making my first blade purchase.

I've not tried any other blade in it except for the pro guard so far, which was way too mild for both myself and my wife.
