NYLON SPACERS??

As you can see, if you expand the image, I use Nylon Washers between the handle and the 'Baseplate' of my razors. Do I know for 'certain' that they benefit my razors? No, not really. I 'believe' it has some benefit and helps to keep from tightening the handle too much and damaging the 'screw'. Also, it keeps the handle contact point from marring the Baseplate. Important if, you plan to re-sell the razor. I don't, so it doesn't matter to me. Beyond those reasons ive listed, I do it because in 'forums', like DFS and others, many members choose to include the 'nylon washer'. In fact, they go so far as to never assembling their razor without one in-place. As I say, I don't know if there's any real benefit?

It gives you a little more blade exposure, about as much as shimming your razor with an old razor blade.

Since it's below the baseplate, I don't see how you come to that conclusion. It does not effect the contact of the top cap to the baseplate at all and does not change anything in relation to the blade any more than using a different length handle would.

I use them in all of my two/three piece razors. Why? I don't know...probably because I saw other shavers using them. IMO, they're superfluous.

I use them on all of my 3-piece razors for the same reasons the OP stated. They are #10 nylon washers and I get them in a package of 5 from my hardware store.

Agreed. Last couple I got from up north shipped with nylon washers, I believe.

OP listed all the reasons why...if one considers them useless...they really are.

I use them in my razors.  I just like the idea.  I even installed them in the Carbon pass around razors.

I pretty much agree with most. It certainly doesn't do any harm. And, at the very least, the Nylon Washer will keep from scratching the 'Baseplate'. Any other benefits are "in the eye of the beholder".

I'll continue to use them. I purchased 20ct from my local hardware store and to date, I haven't lost the two I originally installed. Of course, now that I have come out and said it, I'll probably lose those 2 today. LOL!
