Nose Hair Waxing

Who’s got hairy nostrils? I’ve been trimming with scissors for years but never been completely satisfied so when I heard about waxing I was curious. I bought this kit on Amazon.

I was waiting to build up the courage to actually use it and then today I was in the barbershop (new shop because my barber died) and the guy ahead of me had the barber wax his nose hair. It seemed pretty straightforward. So while he’s paying I get up to get in the chair and I tell him that I was watching his nose waxing to see if he would cry like a little girl because honestly, that’s what I’m afraid I might do so he laughs and tells me I should get it done. I tell him no, I’ll try it at home first in case I cry. So he says he’ll buy me a nose waxing so how could I refuse. It actually wasn’t bad at all and did a good job but I’ll probably do it at home next time to save the money. $10 which is a bit steep but I guess there’s the cost of the yuk factor

I use a battery-powered thing with a pencil-sized rotary trimmer on one end and a straight inch-wide clipper on the other end.

The only thing is that every time I use it I think of that episode of Star Trek DS9 where somebody gives Quark an electronic gizmo (something to do with care of the ears) in lieu of payment for drinks. He starts fiddling with it and sticking it in his ear, and decides that he likes it.

Just braid the nose hair into pigtails, when you get tired of them just grab the pigtails and snatch 'em outa there!

I am not certain that using wax to pull out nose hair is a good idea. This leaves open pores that are subject to infection. Due to the proximity of the nose to your brain, if you do get an infection, it can have serious consequences.

My old man ear and nose hairs grow rapidly. I have to trim them every few days. I do not enjoy doing that but I am concerned about the consequences of other removal methods

The kit comes with wipes to clean after. There was the odd hair left but you’re only targeting the ones close to the edges that stick out. You don’t want to go too deep as the hair does serve a purpose

It did a pretty thorough job but doesn’t get out the deeper hairs which is probably a good thing.
