Non-Springy Synthetics?

I've tried a number of synthetic brushes at this point from Plisson, Whipped Dog, STF v2, Blackfibre v1 & v2, and while there are a lot of nice qualities to all of them, I can't get past the "springiness" to them. While lathering, it feels like motion just builds up tension, like a spring, and then abruptly releases it once the lathering motion goes past a certain "event horizon." Paintbrush strokes don't have this as much, but I generally find that building lather needs at least some circular motion.

Overall, the experience is not fun, and really makes me dislike using synthetics.

The Plisson has the least of this springy sensation, but it also has faint prickle and a floppiness that makes use a little awkward at times. I'm not sure a lower loft is the right move, though, since that would amplify the aforementioned springiness I dislike.

So my question is... What synthetics minimize that springiness?

Everything you have mentioned about synthetics in your post are the exact same reasons I don't enjoy using synthetics, except when traveling or camping.

Unfortunately, I highly doubt you'll find any synthetic that won't have the 'springiness' attribute.

You either like synthetics or you don't the way I see it. I love them, but I also enjoy Silvertip badgers. Imo you should move on to badgers or boars. I prefer splaying my brushes while face lathering and finishing up with paintbrush strokes, and the synthetics for me just do a better job of aerating and building the lather with circular motions while splayed. But again, I like and use both badger and synthetics.

Yeah, to me the best attribute of synthetics is their softness and they do make some really nice lather. I always face lather though and found that I prefer natural hair brushes for that because they don't have that springiness.

I believe the reason the real Plisson became so popular was because it isn't very springy. It splays so easy you don't really have to apply any pressure and it stays down. Then people wanted Plisson softness with badger backbone, which led to shorter lofts and large glue bumps as a way to increase backbone. I prefer the easy splay but it's becoming harder to find now. I'll probably just buy another Plisson as a result, just wish it had a 24mm knot. Other than the Kong I can't seem to find plisson performacne, which is shocking really. I bought two brushes with the 56mm loft and it turns out they both have larger glue bumps. I still like using them but they are very springy. My silvertip splays easier actually. The Kong is awesome though, just can't use it with some of my smaller soaps.

Just tried Wolf Whiskers black wolf knot today and it was excellent. Very soft and I didn't find it springy.

I have a new synthetic knot coming in. Custom made. The softest brush you'll ever feel and not springy it all it is absolutely wonderful and when I put it together with a great handle you guys will be the first to know

I like synthetics as well. Two that I own that are very plush and don't have the level of "springiness" described are the Deluxe Shaving Retro 24mm and the ShaveRevolution 24mm [no longer available].

The DeLuxeShaving Retro has a great face feel and minimal glue bump for an easy to splay synthetic.

Crown king Suave 26 mm
