New "OneBlade" Razor

The most interesting thing about this razor is that it uses the somewhat more traditional SE blades; the spineless Feather SE. This would be the first modern SE not built around the Feather AC type blades.

One thing I don't like is getting my blades from them. I would be surprised if I couldn't find them cheaper than they are selling them for. When they call them "our" Feather blades it is pretty obvious how much they value them. Also, this blade will be the only blades to work in this razor so the name OneBlade is fitting in more ways than "one". No other blades to try so you are stuck with what you get. Unless you feel like de-spining GEM blades but even then who know how much more modification might be needed for them to fit.

Not only are they charging a high price for the razor but they also want to rope you into a blade subscription. Oh yeah, and to get the best save possible you should only use each blade for a single shave. So a new blade is what they suggest for every shave. I can easily get 10+ high quality shaves from these blades.

So this works out to about a buck per blade after shipping (which is about what it cost for Feather AC type blades. I can order 30 Feather spineless blades right now from Connaught for $18.58 including shipping. 120 for only $50.62 shipped. So if buying in bulk you can easily get the blades for almost half of why they are charging.

Regardless, I'm still interested in this razor. Just allow me to buy the razor alone without the blade subscription & the price would need to be a significant drop.

It would appear that you've to unscrew and re-screw the head with each blade change. Given those blades are good for about ... what, two shaves on anything you might call a man's beard, that's a lot of work on those screws. I see that as a fundamental flaw.

Now, if they had looked at how the Enders Speed Shaver worked, they'd see a real simplicity to the answer ...

Honestly I am not impressed by the razor at all. It may be cool looking but thats it.
I can get 2 ATTs for that money and prolly be better of.

Hi I am not shure of this razor especially if you have to change the blade everytime you shave & PJGH is right as if you have keep undoing & doing up them screws there will be wear & tear & possibly cross threading. To me a good quality razor will work with the blade & give you 3-4good shaves.Also I don't like bold claims like" the best razor on earth period" ,let the public decided if it is or not.

Brian, there is just too much "glitz" in their promotion of the razor. That is exactly the type of advertising that Gillette does for the Fusion cartridge razor so, as almost everyone here has stated, I can easily give this a pass. Thanks for the insightful writeup.

Paul, don't confuse the Feather SE blades with their DE blades. The DE are good for, as you noted, 2 shaves. The Se version is good for at least 10 shaves. But they're going to send 30 blades per month when, conservatively lets say that folks will get 5 shaves per blade. 30 blades per month is still massive overkill.

Clearly they're trying go after the folks who want to save money in their shaving... let's see $300 for the razor and a buck per day for a blade. Massive savings. But it is attractive and shiny. I can see the same folks who bought $400 Fatboys on ebay slobbering all over this razor (more money than brains). The rest of us won't be sucked in by it.

I've had the odd one that got to 5 or 6 shaves, but a couple of shaves per blade has been my experience ... two, before they feel like GEMs after 5 or 6 shaves. I ditch my GEMs after 5, by way of comparison.

Yeah , I have to agree with Freddy on this one . Although it does look intriguing it smacks to me of someone who is applying P&G marketing to a "new" traditional shaving market. All this having to subscribe to blade delivery just sounds like someone looking at us and thinking " how can I part these chumps with their money" in a nice way, though.

The design looks interesting but for the initial outlay of the unit and then the blades on top with the lack of choice in blade use this idea is a non starter for me. Maybe this might turn the head of a guy who is currently using cartridges and fancies something new and unusual and doesn't mind dropping a load of cash on it but for guys like us I think it's pretty obvious were its drawbacks are.
 It kind of goes against everything guys get into de or se shaving in the first place for which as we all know is to save money! Okay we don't save money in general because once we've dipped our wick we branch out into brushes, more razors etc but if you really wanted to take part in this way of shaving and save money we all know we could and still have great experiences. Unscrewing the cap between shaves as well, not for me I'm afraid.
