New CRSW ceramic bowl

Not sure. When I got to be familiar with the brand they didn't offered samples.

Anyone know why Cold River doesn't sell samples?  If I google "Cold river soap works samples", this page comes up http://www.coldriversoapworks.com/blog/s...-available which is a dead end.

It could be that it would occupy too much of his time and resources. However, I am not positive.

Perhaps so but I would think he could pull it off. HIs soaps look to be pucks that are cut from a roll, perhaps a 4 inch PVC pipe or some similar type of mold, as opposed to hot pour straight into the container. For samples he could just slice off 4 per puck, and have 1oz samples like Stirling, or cut them in half and have 8 samples that weight .5oz.

I'm not buying those answers. MW and Mike's sells samples in a very simple way. SC and Route 66 samples are similar but simple. WSP and TTFFC sell elegant samples, very nicely done. TTFFC, in particular, has wide enough containers to get your brush in - none of this push the sample into another container thing. B&M and others go through Maggards (or so it would appear). These are all "artisans".

It appears they sold them in the past so obviously it has been done. Then again, maybe they feel they don't need samples. That's too bad, a lost possible sale.

I'm 100% with you on this. I'm shocked that I decided to try a few CRSW soaps without sampling them as I do almost every other artisan but I chose to pick up a few CRSW soaps and it worked out, although some of the aftershaves didn't and I hated the splashes. For me samples are huge because unlike the mass market soaps I've tried which never irritate me, many artisan products have irritated my skin. So sampling for me is a great way to try something and test it a few times to make sure it doesn't irritate my skin. Just a side note for me but I really really appreciate it when artisans offer them, and it is why I will be forever grateful and a perpetual customer to Soap Commander and Reef Point for offering samples of all of their soaps. I will not try a new scent from Cold River because although I had a good streak of not getting irritated, lately, I ran into many artisan soaps that irritated my skin. At 16$ for 4oz of soap, just not a good decision for me.

Just my two cents and sure, he is welcome to run his business the way he wants. I'm also welcome to support who I want to support, praise those whom I feel do something I really appreciate, and criticize those who don't. Bottom line.

I asked about this on another site, and was told that I must simply purchase the full-sized soap in order to know how it is. In my experience you won't get anywhere when asking after samples. Your best hope with CRSW, as I mentioned earlier, is to request a sample from someone who owns these soaps.

I'm with grim and SCShaver on the value of samples. I don't have the time nor the money to waste on soaps which don't perform as I'd like. Had I not been able to find samples of this brand, I'd have ended up buying three full-sized pucks and regretted every penny - they just don't work for me. Samples are a great way to ensure that you like the performance of the soap, that you aren't allergic to the fragrance oils, and that you enjoy the scent. Actually, for me samples are almost necessary - I rarely purchase full-sized products without sampling first since I have very sensitive skin.
