I think this razor has potential to be a great choice for introducing folks to classic shaving. The older razors that use the GEM blades require skill to use - more skill that a standard double edged safety razor.

Based on what has been posted so far, I expect the GEM blades to work with it.

I as well celestino, I figure one of the following:

-GEM blades work well and get a DFS or better --Great
-Can use GEM Blades but shave is not that great with them but get excellent results with the Feather --Great but will limit its use due to blade cost
-Quality issues --Will send it back
-Don't like it at all --Well if its supposed to increase in cost hopefully will be able to recover my cost and put it on BST

The buzz around the Oneblade Core caused me to break out my OneBlade V1 which I loaded with a palm stropped GEM. I realized that I couldn't remember why I quite using it.

Here's the short of it. I got a perfect baby butt shave with no effort whatever. I'll have to hand it to the Oneblade folks, they really did create something new and different.

I realize that I place a higher value on a shave that takes skill than the quality of the shave itself. I am not to the point with a straight where I can match the OneBlade shave with a straight razor, yet the straight is my primary go to.

I won't put words in SharpSpine mouth, though I think he places a higher value on the quality of the shave.

I could see the Core being a great catalyst to bring folks to wet shaving if it passes muster once a bunch of folks are using it, if it works with GEM's and if the OneBlade folks can stay out of their own way.

I'm not sure how much of mantic59's lackluster review was a function of the loud feedback, which I personally like, and the lack of a luxurious feel which he gets with the metal OneBlade.

Folks coming to the Core from cartridges won't be familiar with that luxurious feel, thus won't miss it. If the Core can deliver the fantastic shave that the metal models do, I can see it going far.

Hey Pete123,

I agree with you about the luxury issue and I posted something similar a few pages back.  It will be interesting to see if there is a higher degree of likes amongst those who have never tried the SS version versus those that have. I will be one of those that has not so I'm a blank slate. Guess we will find out shortly.  Smile

I thought the same thing. Like you I have no prior experience with the SS version so I am approaching the Core with an openmind.
