Just comparing the shave and nothing else (presentation, etc.)  to the Genesis, how does it do?

First, please remember this was my first shave with Core so my opinions may change as I use it.  Smile

It was definitely not as luxurious.  Shaving with the Genesis for me is like having stubble just wiped away (of course, some consider that a downside: not much feedback from the razor).  The Core had a lot more feedback.  The balance is down toward the bottom of the handle and it's fairly light, so some adjustment of how I hold the razor was necessary.

From a pure performance standpoint I got a good, solid shave out of it with a little extra work--much like I would get from any new razor I was trying that wasn't totally out of my comfort/knowledge zone.  For me, definitely worth 50 bucks....

I don't have the Genesis, and only have the Core on order. But I have both the stainless and aluminum Mongoose in the same form factor, and the stainless and aluminum PAA DOC Evolution in the same form factor, and in each manufacturer the shave is much different. I suspect it's due to weight, but I don't really know. I fully expect Mantic's experience with the Core to be different from the Genesis. Thanks for the reporting, mantic59 !

mantic59 Thanks for the update. Keep us posted as you get some more shaves in with the Core.

I just shaved with a OneBlade Core using a de-spined but otherwise unmodified PTFE GEM blade.

The shave was excellent. As good--perhaps a bit better--than the Feather.

You've made my night mantic59! I still hope that OneBlade will eventually modify the head to accept unmodified GEM blades, spine & all.

I have a Core on its way. Can someone point me to a simple tool that de-spines a Gem blade, of which I've got many?

A simple pair of pliers works very well.

Do you squeeze in the middle, or on each end, or everywhere?
