Perhaps it has to do with low sales, but if they deliberately looked down on the average wet shaver and targeted the "high end" user, unsuccessfully... would I be buying their product now?.

I'll have to think it twice, I guess.

I agree with your observations.

Made my order. $50 is just too tempting.

I'm crossing my fingers with the GEM blades working, otherwise I don't see myself enjoying this long term. I can't sustain paying for expensive single edge blades when plenty of good DE's are very cheap.

I also decided to take a chance that the GEM blades will fit. If not, it will end up for sale very quickly.

I don't believe they will.

A quick update about the OneBlade Core razor launch.  Response has been far above their expectations--orders blew through the inventory they had reserved for Sharpologist.  They set aside additional inventory to accommodate those orders but their full launch campaign (on Uncrate and other general websites) starts Thursday so nothing is guaranteed past that point.

I'm sure it will after the initial launch, maybe after Father's Day (I don't know this for a fact though).

I never really thought of purchasing the OneBlade as prior to joining DFS the most I had spent on a razor was $80-$85. I have since spent $100 on the 6S.  Today if the V1 could be had for around $200 like when they ran specials I might consider one at that price. Of course that option is no longer applicable but as many have said above even at $50 I would be hard pressed to try it if it won't take GEM blades. I also know no company is perfect and I was not personally involved but the quality issues and customer service that was discussed on this forum soured me.

I have found that in the world of wet shaving (as with other pursuits) I have told myself I would never spend $100 on a razor or more than $2.50 an ounce on shave soap or $15 on 3.3 ounces of aftershave and I've since done all that so who knows. One day I could go to using carts every day as I used an electric razor before and never used carts day in and out for weeks/months so I really don't know if I would have problems with prolonged use. Never say never, it bites me in the a$$ to much.

Not sure I'm hoping it takes the GEM blade or hoping it doesn't. (Statement not meant to offend just save me $50  Evilgrin)

I have a V1 Oneblade which I haven't used for months as I have $40 razor that I like better. Having said that, many people have been very, very pleased with their OneBlades.

I read the article from the guy saying that he didn't think the Gems will work. I'm not convinced that it won't work based on what he said. As best I remember, the Gems don't snap into place like the Feathers. Also, the smiling blade with Feathers was a problem, though as best I recall the Gems smiled in the V1 and performed very well.

I guess we'll find out if the GEM blade fits once someone gets their hands on one!
