I sent an email last week requesting to exchange for the v2, but I haven’t heard back from them. I’m guessing it must be a very hectic time for them.

I sent an email to hello@onebladeshave.com on Monday and had a reply on Wednesday with the steps needed for the return and replacement.

SharpSpine , I though you liked the Core. Are you returning it to get the new model?

I do. But I like the idea of a more efficient CORE even better. I sent mine back to get the replacement v2.

That makes sense. They'll get the Core figured out pretty soon.

They should've "got it figured out" before trying to sell it. I don't get the argument that its supposed to appeal to cart shavers either. IIRC, when I shaved with a cart, all it ever took was one pass to get rid of most of the stubble. I never did multiple passes or wanted to. Unless you're a "shaving enthusiast", like us weirdos, the average Joe is not going to want to spend $50 on a plastic razor that's going to take 5 passes to get a shave that's anywhere close to one of the 5-bladed wonders he was using before.

I want to give this company my money as I think they are the most innovative razor maker out there, but they keep doing this shitty things.

Or their quality control is terrible.

I hear you, Jeff, especially with your experience with a cart, makes perfect sense. My experience was different. I sometimes used a cart when I was traveling, and although the shave was convenient, I could either get a socially acceptable shave with a couple of passes, or a DFS with a lot of work that often resulted in an ingrown hair because of the way the multi-blade razor cut.

I have three beginning wet shavers that I gave OneBlades to. Two of them got the stainless, one got both the stainless and the CORE. They all came from carts, they all struggled, as many do, with the technique, blades, etc., of the first traditional wet shaves. Their reaction to the OB was that the shave was much more comfortable, and they all commented independently that they had never had a closer shave in their lives.

Now, of course, closeness of a shave is somewhat subjective, and what can seem to be their best shave might be a no-effort DFS for you or me.

And for those of us who have put in the time to experiment with razors, blades, brushes, soaps, and most of all techniques, the joy that comes from a BBS with high-quality gear and a level of difficulty that forces us to pay attention to technique just isn't available with a razor like the OneBlade.

But I still maintain that for the average cart shaver coming to a OneBlade, they will be very happy. As an experiment, I pulled out the OneBlade CORE, and used the shaving cream and brush that came with the 'kit' that was available when the CORE was first released.

I had low expectations for the cream, but it lathered very easily with the brush (Plissoft 22mm from what I can tell), and made a respectable lather even by my standards. The shave was very good, BBS with 3 passes and touchup. Perhaps a bit more touchup than I would do with the stainless OB, and much more work than a traditional DE or SE razor. But it got the job done.

I stopped after two passes and three passes, having done those passes with no technique, using the CORE as I think a cart shaver would shave with it. No question that after 3 passes, it was easily DFS, with no fuss and muss, and if a cart shaver could use this little kit (I think it was $80 for the razor, cream, and brush) and get that kind of shave, they'd be thrilled.

I completely agree with wyze0ne . @"iamsms" comment completely explains how I totally agree with Jeff, yet try to make positive comments when possible. Sourav makes the point perfectly. They are the most innovative wet shaving company in many years, yet engage in questionable business practices and are very poor with execution.

This is the magic and what I want to see happen, which is why I keep commenting in hopes of seeing OneBlade make a big impact with these shavers.
