I sure hope that all the memes from everyone were in jest!
I know mine was.
I’d rather give Shane the time to get his innovative new product out, especially with the same high quality of other Blackland offerings.
I’ve commented before about the insanity of the 3 minute sell-out of shiny $300 razors, some with virtually no information about the razor.
We’re all crazed, gossiping hoarders…including me.

Take the time to get it right Shane.
I applaud you for being courageous, innovative and pushing manufacturing boundaries.
(But can’t you get it done by tomorrow?)

I'll keep this short and simple, mine were and always have been in jest when I post them leading up to a stated release date. I think Shane liked it too as he had time to lurk here and come thru seeing them (he was seen on the forum) but said nothing about not making the May time he threw out to everyone. Come June 1st I google and find that he posted elsewhere 2 weeks before that they wouldn't make the May estimate. Remember he was cruzing thru here and KNEW he wasn't going to make it and saw all the artificial hype for his razor and no doubt enjoyed it and was laughing as he said nothing and cruzed on. After I posted on June 1st he knew and posted such 2 weeks prior elsewhere while never saying anything here he posts downplaying it and an email goes out to everyone the next day on June 2nd about it not making what was just an estimate. I want him to wait until it's right too as ANY manufacturer should. Not interested in his creative marketing though. I'll no doubt get an Era at some point but I'm no longer in a hurry............you can all start flaming me now. I'm done with this subject....facts are facts

My top level take away from this whole “run-up” experience is that it has been an uncommon opportunity for us to take a humorous, penetrating look at ourselves, and Shane, for whatever reasons, left it undisturbed. It is the closest we get, here in the forum, to a collective “in vino veritas” experience. We let our guards down and told an important truth about part of our makeup.

As for flaming you, I can’t imagine why I would want to. OTOH I have no inclination to flame Shane either, but perhaps that’s just me.

Great statements, all the way around, MIke! I despise flaming, it's like group think bullying. We got a glimpse behind the curtain, and as you said, we got to poke fun at our willingness to buy the latest thing out. Both are food for thought!

“Creative marketing” is such a wild term for a small business having its product launch delayed. The reality is that there is basically zero marketing going on here. I thought it would launch in May. It didn’t. There is literally nothing more to it than that and I’m not going to apologize for a delay in a product launch when I haven’t taken a dime from anyone. It’s not like these are pre-orders and I’ve left customers in a lurch while I’m holding their money. If you’re frustrated that you’re not getting updates as frequently as you’d like then write me an email or pick up the phone and call me at (765)268-0525. I always respond and I always respond honestly and directly.

There is no need to market excessively when I’m 100% aware that the razor will sell out in Month 1. I’d actually rather most people not try to buy one at first because fewer people will be disappointed at the limited supply. It’s true that the delay is objectively helpful in drumming up interest, but that’s just a coincidence and not a “creative” marketing scheme.
