steeleshaves and bakerbarber, we are lucky to have you both with us. Thanks for the admonitions to focus on what is really important. It’s too easy to forget in the day-to-day, until reminders like these.

Did they let you keep (what's left of) the deer?

Glad to hear you are no worse for wear. Animal collisions are very dangerous

Glad you're both still with us.

Deer are dangerous. The worst deer are moose. They're black at night and don't show up in headlights, they are so tall and top heavy that when hit they take out the entire cabin.

I've seen moose at night, but not by seeing "them" but by wondering what it was that I wasn't seeing. It was like a black hole. I could see past the moose, just not the moose. Thankfully it was going down the road and I had time to figure it out. If it had been crossing the road... well, it wasn't.

Am very glad you are okay. Hitting deer is scary stuff, especially with today's low slung aero dynamic cars.

Good Lord that looks awful, I am so glad that you suffered only minor injuries, steeleshaves you had an angel watching over you for sure. That you were able to keep the vehicle on the road and right side up after that is nothing short of a miracle. Thank you for sharing this, I'm regularly talking to my kids about wildlife awareness on the road and I'm going to show them these pictures so they know I'm not just talking.

And on the lighter side you might want to take this opportunity to grow a beard and try some of those great beard oils! I had shoulder surgery a few years back and had to have a month with a sling doing noting with my right arm. My left hand is a menace so I grew a beard.
