I’ve had some great shaves and some less-than-great shaves with Mystic Water Soap. (All due to how it happened to lather on each specific occasion.) In that sense, I guess I see “both sides of the coin” mentioned here.

If you already have experience with it and are confident about your ability to get good performance with it, I’d say go for it. Even after the recent price increase, it’s still one of the more affordable ones, and the scent selection is impressive.

I've also had subpar results with MW, so I would suggest trying out some samples first.

Michelle has said that she avoids coconut oil because some consider it to be drying. However, Acqua di Parma and ABC cream and hard soap are pure coconut oil soaps and are anything but drying - so it is possible to make a pure coconut oil soap that performs very well indeed in that respect.

Bit of a learning curve. (pro tip load more than you think and add water very slowly)

One dialed in, slickness and post shave goes head to head with the new guys.

I love the quality scents and that's what keeps me going back. Michelle's florals are second to none.

Another tip that has helped me is to always use a synthetic brush. For whatever reason I have never really had an issue with MW when using one. It takes a little more work with a boar or badger.

Not much I can add to the positive reviews given here. MW is a glorious soap made with the heart.

Favorites were Unscented (Sensitive Skin), Marakesh, and Cedar, Bergamot and Juniper. Some of the best performance balanced with best formula for ease of lather was the Sandalwood mixed with the Moroccan red clay.

One of the best shaving soap I ever tried, the unscented stick version. For me, it outperformed B & M, SV Dolomiti, MdC, and Haslinger, it gave me the confidence to do a third past going against the grain for the first time. I just find it a bit hard to create a thick lather even with distilled water, but surely worth the efforts!

The best shaving soap I have used to date. Lathering is easy. Just use Cris’ technique from Another Cut Above.

Her soaps do not contain coconut, and saponified coconut is drying and NOT moisturizing!

I get slickness and cushion. I love the soaps and at that price it’s a bargain!

I use a shave soap because I does what it needs to for me. Which is protection!

I highly recommend it.
