One other question. How is the Bay Rum scent? I'm not a huge bay rum kinda person, but it does get great reviews.

Never tried the Bay Rum, but I was going to add it in on my next batch of samples.

Yea I should have done that in my last order, but if I decide to get it now, I'm gonna gamble on a full puck.

I’ve used a sample of it, and liked it. It is definitely not as strong of a bay rum soap as some others I have tried. I think it might have the potential to appeal to some who don’t like traditional bay rum soaps, as it is more muted. That being said, the scent in it is not weak.

I have really hard and calcified water down here on the border. I think it runs 7.7 to 7.8 ish.
Does temp also matter? My water is ice cold in the winter and scalding hot in the summer. "They don't bury the water lines very deep here..."

My experience using Mystic Water Soap with hard water is that as long as you load the brush properly and then add a little more water into the mix when lathering, there shouldn’t be any problems. As an added measure, I recommend using a synthetic brush, but I know there are some who don’t want to add that measure.

The formula was changed last year to make lathering easier, but I find that I can lather the old formula just as well as the new one.

I lather with a lightly damp brush until the soap becomes pasty/stringy, and then add water little by little and continue to lather on the puck until I get a very nice amount of soap off it. After that I move on to face lathering where I continue to add water until I have the consistency I'm looking to achieve. An added bonus to loading a ton from the get go with only light amounts of water is that you're left with a ton of slick, lightly lathered soap directly on the puck which you can take little bits of after every pass and massage it into your skin (kinda like a pre-shave). After my first pass, I do exactly that, before adding another layer of finished lather on top. And believe it or not, if I had to, I would have no problem shaving with just the lather from the puck that I massaged onto my face. It's that slick!

I have very hard water no serious problems. And cold water doesn't seem to negatively affect it either. I've been strictly using MW soaps for the past couple weeks and it's been a pleasure. Gotta add more scents to the rotation because I can't get enough of these wonderful scents Michelle has produced.

Last night I finally organized a half price sale of the remaining stock of "old formula" shaving soap pucks and sticks. Random numbers of fragrances that were left over as I gradually began replacing the old stock with new batches containing the sodium citrate for chelation. But there's also quite a bit of the new formula Ginger Pear that I just made too much of last Fall. Oh, and the Prospect Creek is the older, less menthol-y version - the new stuff is much colder. Several kinds have sold out already, but there's lots more.

Any chance of making a marrakesh cologne in the future?
