My next safety razor

My first safety razor was an Edwin Jagger 89 DE. It got damaged so I bought myself a Wilkinson Sword Classic(the black version). I still have it. I always have problems with the against the grain pass just below my chin and on the neck.

I am looking to buy a new razor. What should I get: a slant, an open comb, an adjustable?

Why not again a de89? If it worked for you..
Another suggestion might be a Rockwell 6s.

Mostly, It's the first.
I suggest to focus more on basic technique than tools.
Both razors are mild but effective, in one word efficient.

My recommendation is the Henson AL13 Medium (++). It is on the lighter side, but that makes it easier to handle. The Mild (+) Henson AL13 may be a little too mild, since you are already familiar with the DE89. Your irritation my be due to applying too much pressure on the ATG pass.

I have the original brass one and it is my go-to razor. Previously I had used a medium Henson AL, but this razor trumped it for smoothness.

Additionally, if you want a shiny finish, and still no worry about patina, you can have it refinished / coated. There are a few services out there, with good reviews. Mine was done by Back Roads Gold and I'm quite pleased.

How about a RazoRock Lupo, or Game Changer?

I've been using DEs for 10 years now (over 50 different razors), and still find ATG under the chin a trouble spot. I still give it a try... But a lot of times, I just do XTG again, instead.
