Everything appears top notch. The hair is incredibly soft with density that is matched only by black eagle.

Any updates on these ZT2 knots after a few uses?

My ZT2 is still breaking in after a few lathers but it’s getting even better and is currently my favorite knot.

I have now used my ZT2 about six times.  It had very little badger funk which was essentially gone after the 2nd lathering.  The brush has incredible flow through yet has excellent backbone.  It is much softer than my ZT1 and that knot was previously my favorite.  The tips on the ZT2 have gelled rapidly and are white and silky when wet.  I would place the ZT2 above most of my Declaration knots and equal to the highly regarded Declaration B5.  Aside from the knots, the handles are on the level of Paladins for shine and finish.

(I hate to give the Mozingo hand tied knots such a positive review because it will reduce my chances of grabbing one at the next release.   So, no, in conclusion, they are crap.  Don’t buy one).

Had an old project handle that arrived with a ZT2 today. Gave her a good soak, and Dawn shampoo, and now a hand lather with some remnants of GD duck base that I refuse to ever discard of until there’s literally nothing left (love this base)... now she’s sitting with a head full of lather for a short while while I eat some lunch and she’ll get a good rinse and a full dry cycle. I’ll repeat the hand lather tomorrow and then give her a first run for my Sunday shave. Initial impressions are really good. Lost about 10 hairs in this initial cleaning but to be expected.

My initial impressions of the ZT2 are very good. Great dense knot that still seems to not hog lather. Tips are very soft and white showing gel when wet. I’d call it medium gel. It’s not void of it completely and it’s not a slimy slippery heavy gel. With a healthy shake after use and rinse the hair seem to dry in clumps but up to this point the dry tips aren’t overtly crispy. They stay together but do not take much encouragement to separate. The feel on the face is full and excellent. At 28mm knot size I find the loft on my particular brush ideal. Seems to be coming in under 50mm which is what I like. I did request as low as possible and Brett said he would try his best and shoots for sub 50 for what he likes it to present as. Some other makers at 28mm seem to be lofting too high which for me equals too much splay and an unwieldy lather experience. Minimal badger funk that’s practically gone. Again great density as I stuck a finger into the knot at about 26 hours post shave and there was definitely palpable moisture still present. Strikes me as a brush that will take at least a couple of days to fully dry. I’ll report back as she breaks in and see what changes. A great responsive artisan to work with and the resins, shapes, and polish are all top notch. Another great addition to the community as hand tied seems to be a highly sought out construction method these days.

Awesome! Thanks a lot for the review. I love my ZT2 knot. It is up there as one of my bests. Brett is a great artisan to deal with.

This ZT2 continues to impress. The hair has continued to soften even though it was still very soft out of the gate. Gelling in the tips has increased when wet and the dried clumps are a bit more crispy and hold tight compared to when new. Great flow through for such a dense knot. 28mm knots over 50mm are just too much for me. This one keeps the loft in check coming in ~49-50mm. Full face feel but completely controlled.

Those commenting on the new knots, could you please share other knots you have used and how this batch compares? It would help those of us less experienced or not brush cognoscenti understand your perspective in context. Please do educate us so interested
