Maybe Kehole Sean will chime in. I know he has all 4 of those knot variations.
I have a ZT1. I don’t have a ZT2. In terms of most to least dense knot, it goes BE/Mozingo > Declaration > Varlet. I haven’t tried a Rhodium knot yet.
The hair itself can be sort of hit or miss for any of these. DG B6 was super consistent. Some batches were/are more variable. One of my HT1s gels more than my other two. Varlet doesn’t name batches and one of mine has hair that’s clearly a different “batch” than the others, yet it is all called “Alpine Grade.” My favorite brush of all is a 29mm Varlet beehive with a higher loft and less dense knot than any of these, so low loft and high density aren’t the be all and end all.
So it’s hard to judge the hair itself, though the ZT2 will probably be closer to HT1 than anything else, based on the knot construction and density. But it is much easier to get than a Black Eagle brush, so it’s probably a good option for people who want to try an ultra dense knot without having to get lucky enough to score a HT1.
I enjoy the variety and think people should try as many different brushes as possible and as their budgets allow. My friend’s dad says, “You don’t know what you like, you like what you know.” It’s probably true when it comes to these high end brushes. At some point, I’ll probably keep my top 4-8, though I don’t know what they all are yet.
