Someone or several someones in this thread mentioned the Hone.

I'd never heard of the razor but managed to acquire one in all brass, but with a very long handle. Andrew at Hone reached out to me to offer a shorter brass handle; his customer service is over the top excellent by any standard.

The razor is good with the longer handle and even better with the shorter handle. Yes, it is a tank. Very heavy. However it's easily managed and well balanced. It also is quite effective and efficient especially considering how mild it feel and how smooth feeling it is to use.

The handle looks like it would be slippery but it's not slippery at all.

The brass Hone is quite unusual looking. To my eye it is very attractive. Mostly though I'm interested in the shave and the shave is quite good.

Another of my most efficient razors with least blade feel is the ATT CM1 with a Windsor Pro SS cap and an Atlas handle.

Happy shaves,

Jim

Feather AS-D2.
It'll clear a couple days growth effortlessly for me in a single swipe.
I love my vintage Gillette's, but the Feather certainly loves up to the hype in my experience.
As for value, $300 with the stand (AS-D2S) is excessive to me, but, compared to some of the prices I've seen for other modern razors, maybe not so much.

  1. Henson AL13 Mild – One pass with the grain and another pass against the grain leaves me glassy smooth. There is almost no blade feel whatsoever. This is an ideal every-day razor for me. I can use it safely even when only a few hours have passed since my last shave.
  2. Henson AL13 Medium – Same as above, but just slightly more aggressive. I can just feel the edge of the blade. This is a good razor for those times when thirty or more hours have passed since the last shave or when I'm using an especially thick lather.
  3. Feather AS-D2 – I pick up this razor when I've got a heavy beard. Its weight helps the blade mow through even two-day's growth. The angle is completely different from the Henson, but the results are the same. There's just enough blade feel to keep you on track.

1. ATT Windsor H plate -Very smooth razor.
2. H&S no. 75 -Very smooth razor.
3. Yaqi Tile -(Henson clone) some drag but excellent efficiency with twice the blade gap of a Henson or the Winning razor.
