Only two razors, I am using that steep angle, are Blackbird and WR2 1.55. only difference I am adding pressure in Blackbird, no pressure to WR2

Some razors with less blade exposure, I would prefer to use narrow angle to get efficient shave, are Colonial, many vintage Gillette razors, PAA Maze etc..

Some razors with lower profile head, I prefer narrower to get more comfortable shave, are Ikon Tech, WR1, Lupo, H&S etc..

Thanks for your input. I've tried countless times to ride the cap only, it just takes too much concentration on my end because I'm naturally inclined to the drop the handle. I am alos odd in that I use pressure as well. Only enough to get the blade to cut, but it's still there.

I recently acquired a SS Blackbird. After 3 shaves daily shaves, I thought it wasn't for me and plan to move it on. But now you have me wondering about shaving with a steep angle. I tend towards neutral, but I will try the 'bird with a steep angle when it returns from a trip to another member to try. Thanks for the comments regarding steep angles.

And for point of reference, does a steep angle have the handle closer to my face? That is most intuitive to me, but one sees diagrams and reads numerous posts debating steep, shallow, cap, guard and I can get befuddled!!

Yes.

Let me know how using a shallow angle with your SS Blackbirds work. The great thing about the new titanium is that it cuts just as close but I don’t have to pay close attention to anything when in use. It
is absolutely amazing!

Good mild injector razors by far are the most efficient with the least amount of blade feel of any type of razor I've used. Part of that has to do with the thickness of the blade and the fact they are designed to shave with the blade almost parallel to the face so they skim the skin more so than scrape.

The ones with the teeth on the guard like the Schick Grip or Easy Rider are examples of this.

King G Gillette was the most mild, always left tons of hair behind though lol

Shallow angle (ride on top cap) I can feel more blade... It shaves nicely and efficiently, too.
But I prefer steeper. Feel mostly safety bar and I am adding pressure to get better skin stretch and get efficient shave.

Living on the edge
I re-read this thread just to make sure...there's not a single reference to a Tatara razor.
Thought they were quite active in the 'efficiency with less blade feel' space.

The Blackland Tradere SB is incredibly efficient and the blade feel is quite low. From the razors in my rotation, it's the one I most often cut myself with. Once I get going, it feels so easy to shave with, then, from a lack of respect for the razor, I always seem to cut my Adam's apple. With no care in the world, I'll just set the razor incorrectly on my skin and move it as though I know what I'm doing. Not long after this I'll feel the stinging sensation that comes from making a mistake. I'll smile as this razor will humble me from thinking I can get away with poor focus. It really makes me focus so much more on my following shaves. I highly recommend this razor  Smile
