For me it would be the Gillette pre war tech. I get excellent shaves as long as the blade is sharp.

Instead of starting a new thread I just wanted to post this here. Phil at Bullgoose is releasing the Asylum 17-4 soon and preorders will begin even sooner. As far as available razors go, for $230 this is a strong contender for smoothest and the efficiency is very good.

IMO, it’s a recommended buy for anyone who wanted a Paradigm 17-4. I have a n original 17-4 and will absolutely be purchasing a one of these.

Is this modelled on the Diamondback 2020 or the earlier Paradigm 17-4?

If you are still looking for that holy grail combo of efficiency with minimal blade feel and are excluding the OPs multiple brands (only Timeless would be an option IMHO) look no further than:

Raw Shaving RS-10 (discontinued)
Paradigm DiamondBack (discontinued)
Gibbs Adjustable wide open (vintage)

Best of luck finding your very own RAD killer

^^ Brings to mind a discussion I was having a few weeks ago with an old friend I got into traditional shaving a couple years ago. We were lamenting that the very nature of hobbies is to ultimately cater to the hardcore enthusiasts ($$$) because that drives sales. In shaving, that tends to mean ultra efficiency reigns supreme. He made a fair point: especially during a pandemic, how many men are shaving daily as he and I still insist on doing? Very little incentive to make smooth gear for daily shavers like me. I ain't mad; hell it saves me money and attention bandwidth I can deploy on much more important things, hahahaha.

In no particular order:

H&S .75 / incredibly smooth very efficient. I enjoy heavier razors and longer handles allowing the razor to do all the work.  I prefer KAI and Feather only in my H&S .75.  I speed shave with this one and the result is always the same!

Blackland BBird / Ultra Efficient with blade feel HOWEVER, the blade feel is not uncomfortable and I never get irritation.  I allow the BB’s top cap angle to slice and dice in 2 passes with almost zero detail.  I take my time with the Blackbird as mine is NOT fully tame. Short handles DO NOT WORK FOR ME and as a result I get bitten.  The longer 101 handle provides the weight I’m looking for in my razors.  For “ME” the BlackBird MUST be paired with an ULTRA PREMIUM Soap/Croap/Cream providing super slick conditioning properties and Phantom Lather.  Brands like Ethos, WK, GD, Nuavia work best with my Bird. PolSilver is my fan fav here

Carbon .88 / Ultra Efficient and extremely smooth with less blade feel than my BBird. This razor is SUPER well balanced so my technique changes a little.  I like the razor to do the work but with Carbon I have to apply slight pressure. This is a good thing which MANY people look for in a razor

RazoRock SLOC v1 / The MOST efficient Razor with the least blade feel for $7.99 (or $15-24 with a RR Handle)

Honourable Mentions of Razors that currently CANNOT be purchased, are highly efficient with minimal blade feel.  You can pick it up on the BST with patience and greenbacks:

Weber Polished Head
RS-10
17-4
