Most Efficient Razor/Blade Combo

For me my unicorn is the .95 timeless  open comb with a Rex blade. Smooth as silk and leaves my face feeling like glass with zero irritation.

Just got rid of my .68 sb because it was too mild. I might need to try this one.

A Timeless 95 will leave me clean shaven for 6-8 hours. The T95 is very smooth tho. It's a great razor but it's not built for 16+ hour BBS shaves, on my face.

I just picked up a 2024 Sailor from FloridaCreekIndian . It's the first adjustable I've ever used that I can't really handle well wide open. I have an Ambassador, Fatboy, Slim, Super Adjustable, Futur, Variant, Ascension DOC, and a few others. I run all of them wide open, and I even overclocked the Gillette adjustables and run the Variant and the Progress above 5. I also have a lot of other highly aggressive / efficient fixed-blade razors like the R41, The Stirling razors, MMOC, etc. The Sailor on it's highest settings is up there with the best of them. I prefer the Perma-Sharp Super blades. There are others that are just as efficient, but not quite as comfortable for me.

I love aggressive razors too. Had/have a bunch. The Sailor is my favorite, by far. I assume by "highest setting" you are at 6? Start at dot, end at dot 360d later? It's been a while since I tried but they can go to 720d-ish. Far more gap than I can tolerate. I usually run mine at 6-8 on the first pass depending on growth.

Most efficient Combo? Sailor for the win and the blade doesn't matter. Find a blade that is your most comfortable.

Yeah, I stopped at 6. I overclock my Progress past the highest advertised setting, but I felt like the top cap on the Sailor started to wiggle a little too much for my liking past 6, plus, I found I didn't need it that high anyway.

I can get a longer BBS with my Rex ambassador and oliworks because of the adjustability of it, but the timeless ti95 with the open comb base plate and the Rex blade is right there and a smoother shave. I love my progress as well! The open comb baseplate on the ti.95 is incredible I have the scalloped plate as well but the BBs does not last as long.

Currently still BBS at about 7 1/2 hours with a Blackland Dart and a Russian King C. Gillette blade. This is looking to be an incredibly efficient combo. I realize that after the second pass.

Do you find much difference between the Timeless 0.95 oc and the Timeless 0.95 sb?   I own both base plates and find the shave is very close, but the oc seems to require a little more care while shaving.

If I really want the best shave I choose my Feather AS-D2 razor with a Feather blade. I don't use it all the time, as I like to choose from my small collection of DE razors.

My Timeless 95 OC with vintage high end blades gives me a smooth BBS shave.

Yates 921 (SS or Ti) with M or H plate, Nacet blade
Blackland Ti Vector, solid bar plate, Kai Captain Blade blade
Schick 500 with Chinese Schick blades
Schick E (Canadian) with Personna stainless PTFE coated injector blades

I recently picked up a Focus Slim AL razor and get pretty good shaves with that with a 1/2 Astra Superior Platinum blade.
