When I attended a Greek Orthodox Church theological questions more often than not were deflected with 'Mysterious' and a plate of spanakopita and Ouzo to silence my mouth. PAA or HTGAM isn't so much misunderstood as mysterious. The old saying " You only have one chance to make that first impression" seems to have been missing from the script of the theatrical alter ego marketing of Snidely Whiplash meets THE GONG SHOW. This tribal 'community' can be viscous enough with 'artisans' and new vendors. The weary gifting of product to prominent members to help/shill a new effort, the internecine backstabbing and fickle consumer racing like a soccermom from one free food sample booth to the next is hardly unique to this hobby.
If you like a product, buy it. This isn't religion or politics, keeping up with, or dragging down the Joneses to equal levels or increasing sperm motility. It's shaving, and that, is misunderstood more than anything.

DFS is the only forum where folks are not beaten up or ganged up on for supporting PAA. Despite the fact that the majority of accusations against them are known to be inaccurate, at best, many people like to create drama, and the character of Douglas Smythe is a target. People that know only the outline of accusations will insist they are true and despicable, and refuse to look at the situation for what it really was...they just buy the drama, because that helps them to "fit in" on those big forums.
At the end of the day, PAA makes excellent products, both software and hardware, for median prices, that perform on par with with their market peers.
Whatever you feel about the character and charicature of Douglas Smythe, his company makes good products, and his enthusiasm has created a tremendous amount of publicity and support for this hobby of ours...

But I won't try to change the opinion of some people who haven't tried some soaps and boycott them just because some others say so.
My guess is that some who would be happy to bad mouth PAA would be GLOWING over the performance of an unknown sample...
Their soap performs really, really well. Everytime...

"Tweedle Dee And Tweedle Dum AGREED to have a battle." I haven't seen any torch wielding mobs storming PAA on this particular forum. Anyone with to much time on their hands can web search and try to sort out the mist shrouded antecedents to this straw dog controversy.
