mild razors

I had a RazoRock Stealth Slant for some time and to me this razor felt insanely mild, I actually tried applying a little more pressure just to see if I could get some irritation or a small nick but I got nothing. A super mild feeling razor with a lot of cutting power who would have thought!

Exactly why I sold mine and why I thought it was pretty overrated, but people vote with their $$$$ so it must not be. It wasn't that efficient for me, and the head was a little bulky. People seem to love it though.

I've switched to DE shaving over a year ago and I have to say that it almost took me one whole year to develop a technique and to truly understand what "apply no pressure" means. I don't have a soft touch in general so it was probably a little more difficult for me than others to learn how not to apply pressure, especially after some 15 years of cartridge shaving. A second eye opener was when I really paid attention to getting a good lather. A good lather really does provide protection and good glide for the razor.

I don't have the razors you mention but it sounds like what you're experiencing is a technique problem. I had a Merkur 20c that I thought was aggressive, but it was merely me applying to much pressure. I sold it a couple of months ago because after learning not to apply pressure I was not able to get a close shave even with 3 passes. So I opted to abide to the "no pressure" rule rather than applying little pressure and got the more aggressive Parker 26c Open Comb which gives me amazing shaves.

I use to love aggressive razors. Still do but my favorite razor is the Above the Tie M1. It's supposed to be their mild version but it is very efficient for me. damn near impossible to cut myself with it. It's a bit above your price point but you can buy used razors from their site for a very good price. A Gillette adjustable would be a good option as well.

since i wrote this i have improved dranatically. i used to use cartridge and a can of barbasol,ha. i learned a lot from watching tse and busta mostly, and nick shaves. i slowed down. i have not cut myself at allin the past 2-3 weeks. i purchased a gillette superspeed and a gillrette adjustable on etsy. they are almost like new and only cost 30 bucks for both of them. i have best success with derby ,astra, and personna blue and red blades. i have used info from all these posts. thanks very much.

I was about to recommend the Schick Krona, the mildest razor I have tried so far. But I guess you won't need it now. In a little while you will be asking for more aggressive razors instead. But than you already have your adjustable :-).

Good to hear that. I remember that I was looking for a mild razor when I had problems and I even considered quitting DE shaving because of the irritation issues I had.
But the problem was in my technique, not the razor. So I won't be surprised if you'll start to look for more aggressive razors soon
