I got this soap few weeks back in September.
First time I opened the can and used it, I was puzzled by the scent.
As my wife said, it was more smelling "your Dad's french fries" than Lavender. Lets' say, Tallow scent.

Despite that, it gives a beautiful lather, very comfortable and protecting very well.

I kept using it, and I think it was the 5th time today, and it is like the soap is now blooming.
I can start to smell the notes in this soap, and it is starting to be a very pleasant soap indeed.

It's like the soap was topped with a layer, and I have now gone through and start getting the very best of it.

Has anyone experienced this before ?

Yup! I've found that it takes most tubs of soap two or three weeks to settle into their proper scent. Like you, I'll use a new tub a few times, and then I'll tuck it away for a spell. When I come back to it, the fragrance has usually leveled and better resembles what I imagine the artisan intended.

My favorite Lavender. My tub is knock-your-socks-off Lavender. Smells like when my neighbor cuts his lavender fields

I love Mike's Hungarian Lavender. I think you've been more used to either French lavender or English lavender scents, which are different. Mike's is more of a dry, herbaceous lavender rather than a sweeter French or English lavender.

This is exactly the comment I was expecting to get and describing quite well my observation !
Thanks !!!

The more I use it the more I seem to like it.

My Hungarian Lavender has been wonderful from the start, but I bought the bar and packed it into a jar myself, so that gave it an added “treatment” that the poured soaps don’t go through. It really is a fantastic scent, and a great soap to use in general.
