So, I’ll get right to it, I am considering purchasing a Merkur Progress 510 long handle razor again.  I bought one for a great price on a sale and loved it for one week.  Basically it shaved great for a week and then the spring went bad or something and the blade gaps were different on each side no matter what I did.  The company I bought it from gave me a full refund and I was able to keep the now useless razor, threw it away.  I know it was a defect because I was lining the notches up properly and everything but it was just screwed up.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?  I love the way this razor shaves but I’m not going to shell out $70+ dollars for another POS that won’t last.  Did I just get a dud of a razor?  Or does the Merkur Progress 510 have a QC issue where this happens often?  Just looking for some extra input!  Thanks ahead of time guys.

Longest continuously produced razor in the world. 67 years and counting. Can’t be anything less than great. Sorry you had a problem with yours and glad the vendor took care of it for you.

I had one for over a year with no issues. Sounds like a lemon.

I have had mine for 3 years and think it’s great.

It's always a risk with the progress.

Over the years, I've had ten.
4 arrived defected and another 2 went bad like yours did.

It's the most amazing shaver for me but yes, major QC issues with the model as a whole.

If you are lucky and get a good one, it should last a lifetime.

My last one went bad and the exposure went uneven. I now use just the side which gives a good shave and use the razor only for travel.
