I really respect MDC for what it is. I just found it to be too drying on my skin and prefer something with a bit more post shave feel. My skin is pretty dry and think there have been some great posts in this thread. I don’t think the formula as changed much, maybe I remember one or two slight tweaks over the years. I think lots of people have learned to deal with the lighter feeling veggie soaps and use whats best for an aftershave to get them what they need. As much as I love SV and have used it very extensively, I do think SV and MDC have lots of similarities. To me, SV has just a bit more “fat” for my face to prefer. I do enjoy lots of the fatty artisan soaps but generally appreciate the harder consistency products.
The thing I like the most about MdC is that they don't compromise their curing process and their soaps are very stable once they sell and ship them. I have no idea if this impacts performance, but I have never heard anyone report that their jar of MdC was soft ot soupy. This certainly increaaes their longevity.

SV 4.3 has great skin conditioning skills.
They play different leagues in my game.
Both champions!!!

One of the things that I like about MdC is that is well cured. martym got ~600 shaves from a tub over on B&B, see post #1047.

So can an artisan supply me with soap for 600 shaves for the price of a tub of MdC? Disclaimer, martym was using a Wee Scot. Still the estimated 0.33g/shave is very close to what I get with a ‘normal’ brush, 0.33-0.5g/shave.
