Can someone help me decide between these two from a scent strength and quality perspective?

I know they're similar and both will perform very well. I have the MdC Fougere which I find to be moderate in strength and low on scent longevity on skin. The lather is superb with great cushion and glide, but lacks a little in post-shave feel. It can be slightly drying. I've not tried a C&S or Valobra soap yet.

Thanks, gents.

From a purely technical POV, I rate C&S superior to MdC on the basis of the After Shave face feel attribute. It's clearly superior. The other attributes are a wash.

In terms of scent, however, no contest to me - MdC is much better. Oxford to me is stronger and just a weird Lavender, but scent is a personal thing and between two humans, we can have 30% difference in what we perceive.

I like them both.

For the summer months I prefer MdC.

The scent of the O&C is something that prevented me from buying it for a while. Simply because I generally don't know if I'll like something based on written descriptions. Wish I'd have bought some sooner rather than later. I really like it.

They're different. For sure.

Right now, from the MdC website, you can get a jar of original MdC soap for $54 shipped to the US.

They are both terrific soaps. Hard to pick a winner.

That being said....since you already own MDC Fougere, I'd go for the O&C. It's lavender and peppermint, a unique scent combination in the shave world, and it's a superlative soap. Scent strength is stronger with the O&C. Not necessarily better to everyone, but better to me than MDC lavender, but not by much. Certainly O&C should be experienced at least once by every wet shaver, and summertime is a great time to try O&C as the peppermint is a bit cooling.

I would vote for Oxford & Cambridge by a wide margin in all aspects. I quickly lost interest in my MdC soaps and after a couple of years with them NEVER use them anymore. O&C on the other hand, for me at least, is the best lavender scent in all of shaving. Wonderful lather, wonderful scent, wonderful performance.

Both soaps are excellent performers. I give MdC the edge in everything except post shave comfort. I do enjoy the scent of both, and when I use MdC, I follow up with the O&C cologne. It works out as a great combo for me.

In case you don't know, C&S O&C is on Amazon for $30.99 shipped. I've been thinking of picking one up myself.

Is that the puck alone, or the puck with the insane jar?

Not there jar. Jar prices is insane

I happened to use Oxford today. IMO its just to "heavy", not a summer scent at all. Good stuff but ... heavy.
