There's a new kid in town, or at least in my Den and he goes by the name of
Saponificio Varesino (Felce Aromatica)
Boy this is good stuff

Packaging- Fab. Good sturdy boxes, attention to detail. The only minor criticism and it's only if I didn't have the bowl and was just buying the refill is that the soap once out the box comes in a flimsy clear plastic container but it is a refill after all and if you have the wooden bowl then it fits snugly into it

Scent- on smelling the puck dry to me it was nice. Not outstanding. On lathering it though the scent really came into its own and blossomed. Fantastic

The Alder wood bowl is a touch of class. I've heard a few reviewers saying they take the refill out to lather for fear of rotting the wood. I kept it in the bowl. Alder wood has a resistance to water. Most of the founds of Venice are built with Alder wood.

Performance is top notch and for me even better than Martin de candre. Fluffy slick lather
Great post shave feel

If you haven't tried this guys get some

I believe the clear plastic container is actually intended as a benefit to enable you to freely switch the different Saponificio refills in and out of the Alder Wood bowl.

It is also the 70th anniversary of Saponificio Varesino this year so look out for a great new scent being released soon.

I'm a big fan of SV soaps as well.

It took me quite a while to really get the lather dialed it. It seems pretty finicky, but once you figure out how to consistently hit the sweet spot, it really is quite nice. The thing I will say about MdC in its defense is that it seems to be way more user friendly. But it's not like they aren't both really great soaps.

Apparently their new scent is going to be released around the 20th of this month.
Special 70th edition.
They have a scent pyramid on their Facebook page. Light Citrus top notes, floral mid and Amber Wood base note (Amber & Vetiver)
