Do you know Luca Pizzi? I have no words to describe his work, but I have many images.

This is his latest creation, work in progress.

It's finished.

I've talked about him elsewhere, my friend Luca Pizzi (www.forgiapizzi.it) is a master forger, metals expert and specialized in Damascus steel. He has received numerous international awards, his steels are bought by many other artisans for making knives and other cutlery.

Together with two other experts he wrote a book about Damascus: "Damasco - Tecniche di forgiatura" (Damascus - Forging techniques) that can be bought on Amazon: http://amzn.com/8890335939

Building on his long forging and knife making experience, Luca has recently started the construction of straight razors.

More to come.

Absolutely beautiful Marco. Please do keep us posted but these are works of functional art. What a talent!

While I'm not a straight razor shaver I am a lover of damascus steel and those are some absolutely stunning pieces. Thank you for bringing this artist to our attention.

Crazy thing is that's not etching, he does the drawings with forging techniques!

A damascus san-mai razor.
The san-mai external is a mix of carbon steel, silicon stell, stainless AISI 304 steel, nickel steel and nickel.
Cutting edge (san-mai) is a stainless steel RWL 34.

The coloring is made with salts in water at 110/120 Celsius.
