Los Jabones De Joserra

I bought one to include in my Aventus clones mega review. I haven't used it yet. Probably kicking that off in late March or Early April.

After using Rodrigo de Jerez I lost my head and ordered the other four scents of Los Jabones De Joserra that were still in stock at Top of The Chain - I had to make up for that January restraint at some point!  I used Blas De Lezo Spanish Shavers yesterday.  They describe the scent as follows: "When we think of this aroma, we think: what perfume should a Spanish galleon from the 18th century have? Wood, oak and smoked, tobacco and liquor, leather."  Despite my reluctance towards leather in a scent I went ahead and bought it thinking that if anyone could make leather smell good it was this guy.  So the base is the same as Rodrigo, which is excellent.  Its a slow developing lather that takes plenty of water but when it hits that point...boom! Rich, thick and slick.  Very nice.  The scent is nice, not as nice as Rodrigo to my nose but a very masculine, well balanced scent with none of the notes overwhelming any of the others.  This is one that I know will grow on me over time.  Its funny how scent can do that but it does it for me.  Sometimes it works the other way too - I start out liking a scent a lot and then over time not so much.  We shavers are a fickle lot.     I'll post my thoughts on the other three scents when I get to them. These scents are all complex and balanced and my very uneducated nose would have trouble picking out any of the listed scent notes without having the list in front of me and even then I'd struggle.  The only exception would probably be the tobacco in Rodrigo de Jerez.

Cifero - The Cefiro scent is fresh, strong and very masculine. It opens with fruity notes of black currants, green apple and bergamot and is greeted by a heart of spicy rose, birch and incense. Sandalwood, musk, patchouli and jasmine form the basis.

Kiix - Los Jabones de Joserra Kilix shaving soap is the type of scent you could imagine the ancient Greeks or Romans wearing, a deep and mysterious profile opening with Bergamot and Cardamom leading in to an Iris, Heliotrope and Violet heart all settling on a base of Cedar Wood, Sandalwood, Amber, Oud and Tonka Bean.

Passion Incense - This incense aroma begins with a top note of cypress, followed by middle notes of rose, jasmine and cinnamon that rest on an oriental background with notes of incense, oudh, cedar wood, amber, musks, vanilla, benzoin and labdanum.

Top Of The Chain got another shipment of Los Jabones De Joserra soaps and some aftershaves in. Different scents than the last batch.

The scent profile indeed touched my buttons.  So I ordered from Pasteur's.

It must've been a rough trip.

This morning I used the soap.  And...surprise.  This is the first latte colored lather I've experienced.

Color aside, the shave scent and shave was great.  Others describe the scent better than I, but I got tobacco and leather.  More importantly, my wifemate really liked the scent.
A fine shave resulted.  This is definitely going into the regular rotation.

Bourbon Butter Cream? How could I not?

Can someone fluent in Spanish help me out?

Recently I saw the Rodrigo profile, liked what I saw, and I ordered it.
Yesterdays shave with the Rodrigo was good.  Perhaps its was the enjoyment of a new soap that disguised the mild inflammatory sensation.

But this morning, the Rodrigo (lower Label) mildly disagreed with my face.

I can see kokum and argan and water, but much eludes me.

I'm particularly interested in learning what is in the Rodrigo, that's not in the Viriato

I like leather scents.  Your description of Blas de Lezo interests me.  May I ask how forward the leather is?
I have Viriato and really like it. I was quite hopeful that the Rodrigo would be as fine for me.  Alas, there is something in it that troubles my face.


I'm not able to tell whether the bothersome ingredient in Rodrigo is also in de Lezo.  Are you able to share any observations?

I was worried about Blas de Lezo for the opposite reason that you are. While I like leather when it’s used in balance as part of a more complex scent but I often find that for my nose scents with leather in them are often too leather forward. I’m glad I took the chance because I think the leather accord is masterfully used in de Lezo. It’s there but it doesn’t hit you in the face like a freshly tanned hide. 

I don’t know what about Rodrigo irritates you but that’s too bad. I’m guessing it’s something to do with the fragrance ingredients. I shaved with Kilix yesterday and it’s a much milder more “sophisticated “ scent than Rodrigo. Blas de Lezo is also milder than Rodrigo.

I just used this soap from Los Jabones de Joserra and it’s beautiful.    I used Gredos a couple of days ago and really like it too.
