Looking for recommendations for my first Boar Brush.

Nope. I meant boar, whether new or vintage, except for the two examples I showed.
Often I have to wrap the knot with an elastic hair band to keep the knot from splaying out too much.
Either that or tuck the butt of the handle into my palm and reach around it with my thumb and fingertips to squish the base of the knot.

Yeah, there are some floppier Boar knots for sure. In fact, I think Omegas hedge that way with the higher loft and skinnier knots? Not to mention a broken in Boar has more "elasticity" and splays easily. The Zenith I'm working on used to be tight and now it feels like it's going to splay just by looking at it the right way. Lol.

I'm a fan of floppier Boars, I think. They tend to be softer and I don't like 'scrubby'.

Picked up an Acca Kappa Boar brush.  I am not sure what to expect, but I will give it a try.  It has a nice aluminum handle and a decent sized knot.

Good point. I can't find that one on accakappa's website. Looks like an Omega 49?

Omega 49 is a decent brush. Big knot though so lots of coverage. Slower breakin but they do break in nicely

An omega 10066 is a good starting point. Want something bigger then a 10077, but the absolute best is to set a large omega on a nice handle with your preferred loft. That is by far my fav brush.
Oh, and IMO omega is the way to go, in case you didn’t notice.

Yes, the aluminum one looks like my brush.  I bought it preowned, it was unused in the box.  I now know what everyone means when they say a brush is thirsty.

You can never have enough brushes...

Im sorry my friend but you would be wrong. That is a monster. Solid brass with a S.S. ring to mount the knot in. Its a 30mm badger. The handle was a gift from a friend in Austria. He said it was in a display behind the counter in a shave shop that closed the doors. He sent it to me and I put the knot in it. It took a few months to get here but i sure was surprised. I used to do all the giveaways on another forum and when it all came to an end he sent me the handle as a gift for doing what i did for the forum.

Its a huge lather hog and weight is just over 1lb. You dont spend a long time building a lather with it. Lol.
